His loved ones, who witnessed his drug and alcohol abuse for years, were heartbroken by what his mother later described as an unavoidable outcome. His mother spoke about processing her grief and teared up when talking about how powerless one can feel against a loved one’s struggles with addiction. In the months leading up to his death, Perry appeared to have turned a corner with his addiction, relatives said. Now, loved ones switch tenses from past to present to past again as they remember the complicated man who brought them so much joy. It’s a familiar story for the millions of people whose loved ones have addiction disorders and is a guiding principle for the foundation, the family said.

Hoda Kotb, a beloved mainstay of NBC News' "TODAY" for nearly two decades, announced on Thursday that she will step down from the network's flagship morning show after six years as co-anchor. Kotb has co-anchored “TODAY” with Savannah Guthrie since early 2018. In a written message to her colleagues, Kotb said her daughters and her mother "need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie." Joe Scarborough, speaking alongside co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist, offered viewers a peek behind the curtain into the conspicuous decision-making process that transpired over the weekend. Without “Morning Joe” airing on Monday, viewers rebelled against MSNBC, opting to change the channel, Nielsen data indicated. The move to bench the “Morning Joe” crew, after all, didn’t happen in a vacuum. Which is why, perhaps, Comcast is involved in cleaning up the “Morning Joe” mess. I’m told that the company’s president, Mike Cavanagh, rescheduled meetings on Tuesday to grapple with the fallout stemming from the “Morning Joe” commentary.

A spokesman for MSNBC denied that NBC had made the programming change because of political considerations. In a statement, the network said: “Given the gravity and complexity of this unfolding story, NBC News, NBC News NOW and MSNBC have remained in rolling breaking news coverage since Saturday evening. This year, advertisers and ad agencies may well use the strike as a bargaining tool, said Erin Firneno, vice president of business intelligence for researcher Advertiser Perceptions. The writers’ strike, which has entered its third week, is also injecting a new element of uncertainty for ad buyers, at a time when television viewership is declining and the possibility of recession looms. While the TV networks have long contended with splintered viewership amid the rise of social media and streaming, the writers' strike puts content production at risk, said Rishad Tobaccowala, a former executive at advertising and public relations giant Publicis Groupe and advisor on business transformation. Last year, NBC’s upfront presentation emphasized star power as the network returned to a live event after a COVID-19-imposed hiatus. Ahead of the upfront presentations, media executives sought to reassure investors about the strike’s impact.
A jury found Trump sexually abused Carroll and defamed her when denying it, awarding her $5 million. After the verdict was read, Carroll told Trump's attorney, Joe Tacopina: "He did it." "I am overwhelmed, overwhelmed with joy and happiness and delight for the women in this country," Carroll told Savannah Guthrie on the "Today" show Wednesday morning. "She didn't say that to me," Tacopina told Insider on Wednesday. "This is not about the money," Carroll told Guthrie.
E. Jean Carroll's lawyer promised Donald Trump will pay up the $5 million in damages he owes. A jury on Tuesday found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in 1996. Trump's lawyer in the case, Joe Tacopina, maintained that they plan to appeal the case and won't have to pay Carroll anything quite yet. A Manhattan jury on Tuesday found the former president liable of sexually abusing Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in 1996. The jury awarded Carroll $5 million total in damages.
E. Jean Carroll's lawyer said Donald Trump was "a witness against himself." A Manhattan jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in 1996. "There's no question that both of those things helped our case," Kaplan said. In his deposition, Trump's comment came after he said anyone who is a "star" can largely get away with grabbing women. On Tuesday, a Manhattan jury unanimously found Trump liable of sexually abusing Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in 1996.
In the down-to-the-minute choreography of Saturday’s coronation, William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, had been expected to arrive outside Westminster Abbey at roughly 10:45 a.m. They would be among the last guests to enter the church before the stars of the show, King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Instead, Charles and Camilla pulled up to the abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and then, rather awkwardly, did not alight. Were William and Kate running late? None of the hundreds of journalists loitering by the broadcast booths outside Buckingham Palace seemed to know for sure.
Lawyer of former US president Donald Trump, Joe Tacopina speaks to the press outside the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York on April 4, 2023 after Trump's hearing. A criminal defense lawyer for Donald Trump said Wednesday he expects that the porn star hush money case against the former president to get dismissed without having to go to trial in New York City. "I feel that we're not going to get to a jury," the lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said in an interview on NBC's "Today Show." "I think this case is going to fall on its merits on legal challenges well before we get to a jury," Tacopina said. Tacopina did not answer Guthrie's question about whether a "fair jury" could be selected for trial in Manhattan.
