An explosion on Wednesday rocked the California courthouse where Michael Jackson was tried and acquitted nearly 20 years ago, authorities said. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and a man was taken into custody shortly after deputies responded to the incident at 8:48 a.m. local time, officials said. Jackson, who died in 2009, was accused of sexually abusing a little boy at his Neverland Ranch home. He was acquitted on all charges at the 2005 trial held in Santa Maria. A suspect has been detained and is being interviewed, and the scene continues to be active after the explosion “from an intentionally set improvised explosive device,” said Santa Barbara County Sheriff spokesperson Raquel Zick in a social media post. Roads surrounding the courthouse are closed and the public is being urged to avoid the area, Zick said. In addition to the Santa Barbara County Superior Courthouse in Santa Maria, Santa Maria City Hall, the public library and other city offices in the area closed for the rest of the day, as police investigate “a bomb explosion,” city spokesperson Mark van de Kamp said. Symptoms of nine mental health disorders substantially improved under placebo treatment, according to a new review of 90 randomized controlled trials — known as a meta-analysis — totaling 9,985 adult participants largely in their 30s and 40s. “This is the most comprehensive study of placebo effects in psychiatry.”The results are also important for patient treatment, Bschor said. ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkish authorities have formally arrested 25 suspects in connection with the shooting of a man during a service at a church in Istanbul last weekend, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said on Friday. My husband and I rented bikes when we explored the areas surrounding Venice. So, my husband and I boarded a ferry to Lido, the barrier island separating Venice from the open sea. Here, we rented bikes, rode along the beach for some stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, and boarded another ferry to Santa Maria del Mare. Once we arrived, we biked to the fishing village of Pellestrina and sampled the freshest-tasting seafood I've ever eaten. I highly recommend visiting the surrounding islands if you have the time to leave Venice's city center and want an authentic, less-touristy experience.

A California man was sentenced to six months in federal prison on Monday for allegedly lying to federal authorities when they were investigating an airplane he intentionally crashed to make a YouTube video. The man, former Olympic snowboarder Trevor Daniel Jacob, filmed the YouTube video stunt to promote a wallet from a company that sponsored him, according to the plea agreement filed in the Central District of California. He pled guilty to destruction and concealment of a tangible object with intent to obstruct a federal investigation. Jacob took off on a solo flight on Nov. 24, 2021, in Santa Barbara County, California, and parachuted out of the plane with a video camera and selfie stick. Jacob allegedly agreed to inform the NTSB of the location, but lied multiple times when investigators asked over the next two months.

Rome CNN —A painting by the 15th-century master Sandro Botticelli, recorded as missing since the 1980s, has been found at a home in southern Italy. The depiction of the Virgin Mary and infant Christ was discovered in a home in the town of Gragnano, near Naples, according to the Carabinieri Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of Naples. The painting by the artist most famous for “The Birth of Venus” and “Primavera” is estimated by Italian authorities to be worth at least €100 million ($109 million). “The family continues to hold the title of the work, which, however, will be preserved in a museum,” Croce added. The Somma family declined to comment when contacted by CNN.
