A "skit" at a fraternity party that left a pledge with burns over 16% of his body led authorities to file charges against four San Diego State University students, including the person who was injured. The charges stem from a Phi Kappa Psi party on Feb. 17 that left Larsen with burns. At the time of the party, the fraternity was on probation by the university, the release says. All four students were active members and pledges of Phi Kappa Psi, officials said. Phi Kappa Psi did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.

The FBI is warning sports leagues that star athletes who display valuables on social media are vulnerable to burglars familiar with their often-public travel schedules. The FBI memo includes advice to athletes that is consistent with recent guidance to the leagues' athletes, including keeping boastful images of expensive belongings off social media, the source said. Prosecutors said the defendants used a popular visa waiver to come to the country as tourists or businesspeople. Those who get the waiver can stay in the United States for 90 days. "These criminals aren’t coming to the United States to visit Disneyland and other tourist destinations — they are coming here to steal, terrorizing Americans in their own homes," Spitzer said by email Monday.

SAN DIEGO — Former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza will not be charged in connection with an alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl at an off-campus party last year when he played football for San Diego State University, prosecutors said Wednesday. “I am grateful that the district attorney and the San Diego Police Department have discovered all the facts and found no criminal wrongdoing. I am excited to continue my NFL career,” Araiza said in a statement issued by his agent, Joe Linta. “Ultimately, prosecutors determined it is clear the evidence does not support the filing of criminal charges and there is no path to a potential criminal conviction. San Diego State officials have said they deferred investigating at the request of police for fear that conducting their own might harm the criminal investigation.
