Meanwhile its Angry Birds franchise has been licensed into other entertainment and consumer products. "Among the rapidly growing global gaming market, the mobile gaming market has especially high potential, and it has been SEGA's long-term goal to accelerate its expansion in this field," said Sega Sammy's Group CEO, Haruki Satomi, in a statement. Rovio has said it was in talks with Sega Sammy over a possible tender offer. Sega Sammy shares fell 4.3% by midday in a broader market (.N225) that was virtually unchanged.
