For many Democratic voters, Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to Donald Trump was disappointing but not surprising, they said in interviews, agreeing that their party hadn't done enough to talk about the economy and lamenting lingering racism and sexism.
Voters in Dearborn, America's only Arab-majority city, broke decisively for Trump over Harris, a departure from Joe Biden’s beating Trump there in 2020.
"I was really praying that she would get it," said Deborah McKinnon, 68, a Black Democratic voter from Pittsburgh.
"It just underscores that Black women are the most loyal Democrats, and they were the power behind Kamala Harris' campaign," Allison said.
John Park, 37, a Black Democratic voter in suburban Atlanta, said that as a warehouse worker for an automotive company, he initially liked Trump's "pro-America" approach.
