His team played in France’s top pro league and a second division of teams competing all across Europe. Saluan is 6-foot-9 and averaged 9.6 points and 4.0 rebounds playing for Cholet in France’s top pro league. He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter. However, I also think he’s more than just a floor spacer on offense in spot-up situations and potentially as an off-ball scorer.

Read previewDating app Bumble is in hot water over an ad campaign that appeared to make fun of celibacy as an alternative to dating. The campaign featured billboards that bore the message: "You know full well a vow of celibacy is not the answer." Some said the ads were misogynistic and were chastising women for not casually sleeping with men. "Our ads referencing celibacy were an attempt to lean into a community frustrated by modern dating, and instead of bringing joy and humor, we unintentionally did the opposite," it said. AdvertisementBumble's apology post recognized that celibacy was a lifestyle many women choose for various reasons, including asexuality, trauma, or harm.

Crowds Join Lawmakers in Paris March Against Antisemitism

PARIS (Reuters) - Thousands of marchers joined lawmakers in Paris on Sunday to condemn a surge in antisemitic acts in France during the conflict in the Gaza Strip, but arguments over political participation clouded an intended show of unity. Political figures, including Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and former presidents Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy, headed the march, holding a banner with the slogan "For the Republic, against antisemitism". Left-wing lawmakers have joined pro-Palestinian protests in recent weeks, including a march in Paris on Saturday. Protests against antisemitism also took place in other French cities on Sunday, including in Marseille where some 7,000 people turned out according to a police estimate. Elsewhere in Europe, concern is running high over antisemitism and other forms of extremism being whipped up.

PARIS, March 11 (Reuters) - France faced a seventh day of demonstrations on Saturday against President Emmanuel Macron's unpopular pension reform plans amid ongoing rolling strikes which have affected refineries, public transport and garbage collections. Demonstrations started at 10 a.m (0900 GMT) in the streets of major cities including Toulouse and Nice. Opinion polls show a majority of voters oppose Macron's plan, while a slim majority supports the strike actions. An additional day of nationwide strikes and protests is planned for March 15. The Ocean Viking, which is operated by the SOS Mediterranee charity, was sailing on Thursday by the French island of Corsica, but had previously been close to Italy. The French would also reinforce controls at its borders with Italy to prevent migrant crossings, he said. Ocean Viking was the fourth. The far-right was quick to react to the decision to let the Ocean Viking dock, with the RN's Marine Le Pen tweeting that he was being "dramatically" soft on immigration.
The agreement resolves an investigation in France over whether the Swiss bank, which is trying to recover from losses and scandals, helped clients to avoid paying tax on their wealth. Credit Suisse lawyers declined to answer questions on the settlement in court, with one of them saying that the deal was the best way to "turn the page". Credit Suisse shares dipped slightly after news of the settlement. One of Switzerland's systemically important banks, Credit Suisse is scheduled to release details of its strategic review alongside third-quarter results on Oct. 27. The U.S. Justice Department is also reported to be investigating whether Credit Suisse continued helping U.S. clients hide assets from authorities, eight years after the Swiss bank paid a $2.6-billion tax evasion settlement.
PARIS, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse Group (CSGN.S) settled a tax fraud and money laundering case in France on Monday with a 238 million euro ($234 million) payment to the state, putting another legal headache behind it as it readies to unveil a strategic overhaul. The agreement, announced in a French court and confirmed buy the bank in a statement, resolves the investigation in France over whether the Swiss bank helped clients avoid paying tax on their wealth. "We have decided to pull out of the Energy Charter Treaty," said Macron at the end of a European Union summit in Brussels. The treaty, which has more than 50 signatories including the European Union, was designed to secure energy supplies and grants protection to companies investing in the energy industry. French MPs want inquiry into alleged Russian party financing
  + stars: | 2022-09-24 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
PARIS, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Members of the French National Assembly said on Saturday they had asked the president of the lower house of the country's parliament to set up an investigation committee to look into alleged Russian financing of political parties. The eight MPs, who belong to French President Emmanuel Macron's En Marche party, also noted that Marine Le Pen's far-right Rassemblement National party is still paying off a loan granted by Russian banks. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Register"These facts clearly suggest a Russian will to weigh in the French public debate ... they warrant the set-up of an investigation committee to establish if French political parties - and which ones - have benefited from Russian financing," the MPs wrote. However the official did not detail which countries the Russian influence efforts were believed to have targeted or provide specific evidence to lay out the claims of secret financing.
