CNN —Newly crowned three-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Nikola Jokić put on a show and proved why he is the rightful recipient of the award in the Denver Nuggets’ 112-97 playoff victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. So good was Jokić’s performance that teammates and opponents alike were lavishing him with praise after the game. He’s the best player in the NBA, he showed it the last three games, three games in a row. CNN —Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry was left lamenting “self-inflicted wounds” after Draymond Green received his fourth ejection of the season during the team’s 101-93 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Green’s ejection came less than four minutes into the game after he received two technical fouls for disputing two separate foul calls. Green also a received a suspension during last season’s playoffs after stamping on the chest of Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis. Edwards threw down a monster slam over John Collins of the Utah Jazz in the third quarter, helping the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 114-104 victory but leaving both players banged up after the play. CNN —Three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert has been fined $100,000 after he appeared to make a money gesture towards an official during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 113-104 overtime loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. The action appeared to be directed at referee Scott Foster who had handed out the foul. And although Foster missed it, fellow official Natalie Sago saw Gobert’s gesture and assessed a technical foul to the center, which proved to be costly for Minnesota. The $100k fine is a significant step up from the $25,000 fine that he was handed for his third offense in 2023. Minnesota assistant coach Micah Nori, who was filling in for head coach Chris Finch due to illness, described the gesture as unacceptable and lamented the timing of the technical foul call.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored 27 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 107-101 on Monday in a matchup of teams that entered the night tied for the lead in the Western Conference standings. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 37 points and Jalen Williams added 20 for the Thunder, who lost their second straight after a five-game win streak. The Thunder led 97-96 with 2:43 remaining before Minnesota took control. CNN —Draymond Green was left off Team USA’s provisional 41-man list for this summer’s Olympic Games due to the suspensions he’s received this season, USA Basketball executive director Grant Hill said Wednesday. Green was reinstated in the first week of January after serving a 12-game suspension. “But I think just in lieu of sort of what’s transpired this year, we made a decision to not have [Green] on this list with this particular point in time with the process. According to the NBA, Green had meetings with a counselor and has also on multiple occasions met with representatives from the league, the Warriors and the Players Association, and he will continue to do so throughout the season.
