London CNN —A set of 19th-century drawings by a teenage Queen Victoria will be put up for auction in London next week. An ink drawing by Queen Victoria, titled "A seated woman with a crown and sash" and dated 1838, is inscribed "by Her Majesty." George Hayter also gave the Queen drawing lessons, and Russell believes these drawings show his influence “quite closely”. The auction house has previously sold other works by royal artists, including a painting by Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Victoria, which fetched £4,198 (around $5,320) last year. The Royal Collection Trust, which looks after the royal family’s art collection, has more than 4,000 works by Queen Victoria, spanning 64 years of her life.

The Coronation Vestments, comprising of the Supertunica and the Imperial Mantle, which will be worn by Britain's King Charles III during his coronation, displayed in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace, London, on April 26. Victoria Jones-Pool/Getty ImagesBuckingham Palace has revealed some of the historical items King Charles III will don for his coronation ceremony on Saturday, including items previously worn by his mother and grandfather for their own crowning moments. Both items are normally on display in the Tower of London and were last worn by Charles' mother at her coronation. The whole look: The Supertunica was made in 1911 for the coronation of King George V and was later worn by King George VI for his 1937 coronation. When it comes to accessories, King Charles will also have a "Coronation Gauntlet" – effectively a fancy white leather glove, embroidered with national emblems including the Tudor rose, thistle, shamrock, oak leaves and acorns.
Charles will be crowned at London's Westminster Abbey on May 6 in a ceremony full of resplendent pomp and pageantry, with traditions dating back 1,000 years. The king and his wife will be taken from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, built to commemorate Elizabeth's 60th year on the throne and first used in 2014. It is 7 metres (23ft) long, 3.6 metres tall and weighs four tonnes, and needs eight horses to pull it. "Because of that it can only be used at a walking pace, which really adds to the majesty and stateliness of this great royal procession," said Sally Goodsir, Curator of Decorative Arts at the Royal Collection Trust. However, in a documentary aired in 2018, Elizabeth described her journey from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey in the coach as "horrible", saying it was not very comfortable.

[1/3] An undated handout photo, issued by Buckingham Palace on December 3, 2022, shows the Imperial State Crown which will be worn by Britain's King Charles on his coronation day on May 6, 2023. The crown, which usually forms part of the Crown Jewels on display at the Tower, has been used since the coronation of King Charles II in 1661 after the monarchy was restored following the 10-year republic of Oliver Cromwell. The St Edward's Crown replaced a medieval version, thought to have dated back to the 11th Century reign of Edward the Confessor which was melted down in 1649. Charles III will be crowned with St Edward's Crown during the solemn ceremony to be held at London's Westminster Abbey on May 6, just as his late mother Queen Elizabeth II was in 1953. The St Edward's Crown, made up of a solid gold frame set with rubies, amethysts, sapphires, garnet, topazes and tourmalines, follows its original medieval forebear in having four crosses-pattée and four fleurs-de-lis.

The stone, made of black Belgian marble, sits in the King George VI Memorial Chapel which Queen Elizabeth commissioned in 1962 as a burial place for George VI, her father. Queen Elizabeth's sister, Princess Margaret, is also interred at the chapel, at Windsor Castle west of London. Elizabeth died on Sept. 8 at Balmoral Castle, her summer home in the Scottish highlands, after 70 years on the throne.

Ducele de Edinburgh, cel mai longeviv prinţ consort din istoria Angliei, a strâns o avere considerabilă de-a lungul acestor decenii cât a slujit coroana britanică, informează ziarul spaniol ABC, citat de Agerpres.
