CNN —Scientists in Western Australia have found a tree frog which is bright blue, rather than the usual green, due to a rare genetic mutation. This is the first time a blue color mutation has been recorded in the magnificent tree frog, according to AWC. “Very occasionally, a green frog is missing yellow pigment in its skin, and it results in an entirely or mostly blue frog,” she said in the statement. “I’ve seen tens of thousands of frogs over the years, and only seen one blue frog - and it was nowhere near as spectacular as this magnificent tree frog. That’s the great thing about working in the Kimberley – you never know what rare wildlife you’re going to see each day.”

(Reuters) - First responders and volunteers from Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday sought to contain an oil spill detected last week in the Caribbean country's waters and clean areas of Tobago island's coast already affected by the incident. Trinidad and Tobago's coast guard first spotted the spill on Feb. 7, about 6 kilometers off the coast of Studley Park, the chief secretary of Tobago's national assembly, Farley Augustine, said in a press conference on Sunday. "This is a national emergency here in Trinidad and Tobago," Prime Minister Keith Rowley said on Sunday, after saying that a vessel had capsized and made contact with a reef on the coastline, causing the spill. Reuters found at least three ships with similar names, and all their transponders were offline, LSEG vessel monitoring data showed. If the spill had happened further west, much of the oil could easily have gone to a key marine park.

The Metropolitan Police said Friday they were searching Richmond Park in southwest London, near where the delivery van Daniel Khalife used to escape Wandsworth prison was spotted on Thursday. Three of the messages featured racist comments about Meghan, the wife of King Charles' younger son, Prince Harry. The former officers, aged in their 60s, pleaded guilty to sending offensive messages at a hearing at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court. Its new chief, Mark Rowley, has promised to rid it of unsuitable individuals among its more than 43,000 officers and staff.

A surge in demand for lab-grown stones has weakened a key corner of the diamond market, Bloomberg reported. But synthetic stones are taking a bigger share of the diamond market. Lab-grown stones are faster-made, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly alternative to mined diamonds. Five years ago, synthetic diamonds sold at a 20% discount to natural stones. "Ultimately," he said, "they are different products and the finite and rarity of natural diamonds is a different proposition."

The U.S. in January granted Venezuela's PDVSA, Shell and NGC a two-year authorization to revive the project, which could boost Trinidad and Tobago's gas processing and exports. London CNN —A new suspect has been named in the racist murder of Black teenager Stephen Lawrence in southeast London over 30 years ago. The statement, issued in response to a BBC investigation released Monday into the Met’s mishandling of key inquiries, added that too many “mistakes” were made in the initial investigation of the murder. Two men were sentenced to life in jail in 2012 for the murder, but “three or four other killers of Stephen Lawrence (are) at large,” according to the statement from the Met’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward. Lawrence, an 18-year-old architecture student, was fatally stabbed at a bus stop by a gang of youths in April 1993. He died in August 2021, months before the police declared the murder investigation inactive and said there were no further lines of inquiry.

An attorney who quit the team defending Donald Trump in the criminal classified documents case said Friday he would no longer represent the former president in a separate defamation lawsuit against CNN. The lawyer, Jim Trusty, said in a court filing that his request to withdraw from the $475 million civil suit "is based upon irreconcilable differences" with Trump. Lindsey Halligan, Trump's remaining attorney in the defamation case, referred CNBC to the former president's spokesman Steven Cheung, who said that the defamation suit is "entering a new phase as more irrefutable facts are revealed." They bear little resemblance to Trump's civil defamation suit against CNN, which was filed in October. The outlet noted that Trump's lawsuit hinges on just five CNN pieces.
