The sources added that Weinstein is undergoing treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. Harvey Weinstein had heart surgery Monday after he complained of health issues and was moved from a New York City jail to a hospital, a representative for the disgraced movie mogul said. Weinstein, whose 2020 rape conviction was overturned in April, remained in recovery at the intensive care unit at Bellevue Hospital on Monday night, said the representative, Craig Rothfeld. Weinstein was moved from Rikers Island jail to the hospital after complaining that he didn’t feel well and had experienced significant weight gain from medication, Rothfeld said. He underwent pericardiocentesis surgery Monday morning to alleviate a significant amount of fluid from his lungs and heart, Rothfeld said. In July, Weinstein was hospitalized for a “myriad of health conditions” and tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia, his representative said.
