Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid shoved a newspaper columnist during an altercation Saturday, according to multiple reports. The altercation happened in the 76ers’ locker room after the team’s 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, according to multiple reporters who were in the locker room for a postgame media availability. Embiid reportedly shoved Marcus Hayes, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. In his column, Hayes mentioned Embiid’s son and late brother as reasons for why Embiid should start playing. Before the current season, Embiid said in an effort to help preserve his knees — which have both required surgery in the past — he would “probably never” play in back-to-back games again in his career.

The Browns entered Week 8 with a 1-6 record, with quarterback Deshaun Watson last in the league in quarterback rating. And he responded by outdueling Ravens quarterback and MVP candidate Lamar Jackson, who had led his team to five straight wins before Sunday. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has cleared the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol and will start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced Friday. Tagovailoa has not played since Week 2 after he suffered a concussion in a Thursday night game against the Buffalo Bills. Sunday’s game against the Cardinals will mark 45 days since Tagovailoa sustained the concussion, at least the third of his professional career. In his two appearances this season, Tagovailoa completed 40 of 62 passes for 483 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. The Lions had a 27-6 lead after two quarters — continuing a disturbing trend for the Cowboys. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott struggled, throwing for only 178 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions before he was pulled in the fourth quarter. The loss dropped the Cowboys to third place in the NFC East, behind the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. Williams also showed off his skills as a runner, like on this 24-yard scramble in the second quarter. After a slow start to the season, Williams’ game has steadily progressed. Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has outperformed Williams so far this season, but the gap has closed considerably the last few weeks. After Sunday’s game, Williams has now thrown for 1,317 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions.

The commissioners of MLB, MLS, the NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL and WNBA, as well as the president of NASCAR, are the brainchildren behind a new campaign to curb hate in America. The Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, founded by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, will back the campaign called “Timeout Against Hate.” Kraft met with the commissioners of the aforementioned sports leagues earlier this year to discuss a potential campaign, and they are committing $50 million to spread the message. “Why in sports do you take a timeout?,” Kraft told NBC News. Last year, Kraft met with more than 80 sports figures to discuss how sports could be used to combat hate in America. The commissioners ultimately gathered in the NFL’s “main conference room,” per Kraft.

Carr was injured in the fourth quarter of the Saints’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.
