Kelly told the Supreme Court that he was wrongly retroactively prosecuted under a federal law that passed in 2003 and made the statute of limitations indefinite for sex crimes with minors. ‘Pharma Bro’ appeal also rejectedIn another case involving a prominent criminal defendant, the Supreme Court declined an appeal Monday from “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli, who was fighting a $64 million court-imposed penalty for inflating the price of life-saving medications. Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York accuse Combs of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution in the indictment unsealed Tuesday. “A year ago Sean Combs stood in Times Square and was handed a key to New York City,” he said. The sex trafficking count mentions “Victim-1,” whose interactions with Combs as described in the indictment mirror those described in Ventura’s lawsuit. According to the indictment, Combs attempted to bribe a member of the hotel security staff who had intervened. Since Ventura’s lawsuit, several others have accused Combs in separate lawsuits of sexual assault or sexual misconduct.

Disgraced musician R. Kelly and Universal Music Group must pay more than $500,000 in music royalties to his sexual abuse victims, a New York judge ruled. As part of his sentencing in the case, Kelly, Universal and Sony Music Entertainment were ordered to pay his half-million dollar debut. Universal Music Group is holding at least $567,444.19. Universal Music Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. Kelly, 56, was found guilty in September 2021 on nine counts of sex trafficking and racketeering in a high-profile sex trafficking case.

CNN —Disgraced R&B singer and convicted sex trafficker R. Kelly has been transferred to a federal prison in North Carolina. R. Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was moved to FCI Butner Medium I, a “medium security federal correctional institution,” according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. The Butner complex sits north of the Raleigh-Durham area and includes two medium security facilities, a low-security facility and a medical facility. He was already serving a 30-year sentence on racketeering and sex trafficking charges after being convicted in New York in September 2021. “Numerous seated jurors were either familiar with accusations that Defendant had a history of sexually abusing underage girls, had previously faced legal problems, and/or had seen the highly unflattering docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly, in which several government witnesses had appeared,” a brief filed last Wednesday said.

Kelly, the multiplatinum R&B singer convicted twice this year of sex crimes, will be required to pay at least $300,000 in restitution to some of his victims, a federal judge said on Wednesday. Donnelly sentenced Kelly in June to 30 years in prison, after a jury convicted him of racketeering and other charges. The monthlong trial amplified accusations that had dogged the singer of the Grammy-winning hit "I Believe I Can Fly." Kelly was also convicted last month in Chicago on separate charges of child pornography and luring underage girls for sex. Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is among the most prominent people convicted of sexual misbehavior during the #MeToo movement against such conduct by prominent men.
