Parris Goebel Is Changing the Way Women Move Her surreal, muscular dances for Rihanna, SZA and other pop stars have made her one of the world’s most in-demand choreographers. As the music gathered momentum, the camera raced through the crowd of scowling dancers until, finally, Rihanna appeared. The choreographer behind this viral performance, 32-year-old Parris Goebel, has established herself as one of the music industry’s most innovative and in-demand artists. There’s something cathartic about watching a group of (mostly) women snarling in lock step, an image of power and indomitability. Rihanna’s representative confirmed that Rihanna and Goebel were shooting something at the palace, though the project is still under wraps.

CNN —First Rihanna’s bathrobe, now Gigi Hadid’s DHL tape dress — it seems that luxury fashion is looking right under our noses (or at least inside our houses) for inspiration. On Friday, Hadid walked in the Vetements show during Paris Fashion Week wrapped tightly in a roll of yellow and red DHL-branded packing tape. The adhesive tool was styled into a strapless mini dress, while two heeled pumps were wrapped in the same tape to match. The tape dress was paired with two heeled pumps similarly covered in the branded adhesive. In 2011, Iowa State University staged its first annual duct tape fashion show — covered by the New York Times — only permitting designs that were made entirely from the hardware store staple.

She’s a business mogul in every sense: Aside from a prolific music career, she’s launched successful brands including her cosmetics empire Fenty Beauty – worth an estimated $2.8 billion according to Forbes – and her lingerie label Savage X Fenty. Her latest move in China to promote makeup products is something of a masterclass in how to tap into its lucrative – mostly online – Gen Z market. On Tuesday night, the chart-topping singer attended a Fenty Beauty pop-up held at a Shanghai photography museum, “servin’ face” according to brand’s Instagram, and “jianbing” – a popular Chinese breakfast crepe that costs about a dollar. In a screengrab from Instagram, Rihanna makes jianbing in Shanghai, China, during a visit to promote Fenty Beauty. While Fenty Beauty products have been available in the country since 2019, the brand announced this March that it would be expanding its presence via Sephora stores on the mainland.

That experience of being engulfed in the sounds and the chaos of a new city helped inspire the exhibits in his new immersive installation, Mercer Labs. Nachum, whose artwork often incorporates Braille, became renowned for designing the Grammy-nominated cover for Rihanna’s album “Anti,” featuring a photo of Rihanna as a child wearing a gold crown embossed with Braille. Some exhibits feature Braille, tactile displays and immersive sounds intended for blind and low-vision visitors as well as sighted ones. In one of the rooms, attendees with vision can don sleeping masks and listen to a set of immersive sounds, the better to understand Nachum’s experiences from 2004 with touch and navigation. In still another space, guests stroll through a cave covered with pink hydrangeas that can be explored through touch.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Underneath his umbrella, NFL legend Dan Marino stood nearly drenched on the sideline watching Prince’s epic “Purple Rain” Super Bowl halftime performance in 2007 during a torrential Miami downpour. “The halftime performance has come a long way,” said the Hall of Fame quarterback who played 17 seasons with the Miami Dolphins and competed in the 1985 Super Bowl. His show will be vastly different than the NFL’s first Super Bowl halftime show in 1967, which featured marching bands from the University of Arizona and Grambling State University, a historically Black college, along with hundreds of flying pigeons, thousands of balloons and two soaring men wearing jetpacks. After the inaugural Super Bowl, the NFL kept bringing back other marching bands, drill teams, signed Chubby Checker and Up with People, an organization that stage positive thinking through dance and song performances. Dudowsky recalled when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said the “Super Bowl of music is the Super Bowl.” He said the halftime show has been able to grow thanks to the NFL's ability to adjust to the current culture and giving deserving artists the platform to express their artistry.

CNN —Victoria’s Secret is reuniting some of the most classic supermodels from its heyday, bringing Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel together in a new campaign. Bündchen, Lima and Swanepoel were part of the long-running “Angels” brand, which the company retired in 2021 as part of its rebrand. (All three worked as “Angels” for years in campaigns and in the brand’s famed Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show — and all wore the show’s signature “Fantasy Bra” on occasions.) It later launched campaigns featuring ambassadors called the VS Collective, including celebrity reps including soccer star Megan Rapinoe and actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The campaign images, a mix of classic black-and-white and color portraits, were taken by Swedish fashion photographer Mikael Jansson.

CNN —With multiple bags and a baby bump protruding from an unbuttoned jacket, Rihanna’s maternity style has reached new heights in Louis Vuitton’s latest campaign. Rihanna pictured carrying various versions of Pharrell Williams' reimagined Louis Vuitton Speedy bag. In several of the campaign pictures she is seen wearing Louis Vuitton garments bearing the checkerboard motif that featured heavily in the label’s star-studded Spring-Summer 2024 show last Tuesday. The singer was one of several A-list celebrities in attendance that evening, which marked Williams’ Louis Vuitton debut. A group of 17 music publishers sued Twitter on Wednesday, accusing it of copyright infringement on about 1,700 songs, and is seeking as much as $250 million in damages, the latest headache for the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. The publishers filed the suit in Federal District Court in Nashville, saying Twitter violated copyright law by allowing users to post music to the platform without permission. Negotiations between Twitter and the music industry to put broad licensing agreements into place had broken down months ago. The suit detailed what the publishers say is Twitter’s failure to police rampant infringement of music copyrights on the service. The post had 221,000 views and 15,000 likes, the suit said, but not the permission of the song’s publishers.

CNN —Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has become the latest celebrity to announce their own fashion brand with the launch of Atelier Jolie. The Oscar-winning actor announced the new fashion venture in a post on Instagram on Wednesday. “I’m starting something new today — a collective where everyone can create,” wrote Jolie. “Atelier Jolie is a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world,” she added.
