Democratic House and Senate candidates raised eye-popping sums from July through September, according to new reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Democrats outraised Republicans in all 11 competitive Senate races and in all but one of the 26 “toss-up” House races. Three Senate Democratic candidates — Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, Maryland’s Angela Alsobrooks and Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin — raised more than four times as much as their Republican opponents during that period. Senate Democratic candidates spent a combined $244 million to Republicans’ $91.5 million. Adelson gave $95 million to Preserve America, a super PAC she’s almost entirely funded, during the third fundraising quarter, after previously giving the group $5 million in the prior quarter. Right for America, another pro-Trump group, raised $28 million last quarter — with multimillion-dollar checks from Andreesen, Horowitz and Perlmutter as well as Perlmutter's wife, Lara. The super PAC has spent heavily on the presidential race as well as on the Wisconsin Senate and Maine 2nd Congressional District campaigns. Harris has plenty of super PAC backup, too: Future Forward (known as FF PAC) had raised $200 million through August, while MAGA Inc. had raised $280 million.

Former President Donald Trump will attend a private meeting with one of the most powerful business lobbying groups in Washington as he tries to craft an alliance with major corporate leaders. Joshua Bolten, the CEO of the Business Roundtable, confirmed in an email to members on Wednesday that Trump will be at the group's plenary meeting in Washington on June 13. The business group instead asked White House chief of staff Jeff Zients to come, according to Bolten's email. The Business Roundtable did not return requests for comment. A top adviser to Donald Trump 's 2024 presidential campaign has a message for some of the wealthiest Republican donors in the country: Don't take the former president's divisive rhetoric too seriously. Wiles' message to donors, to just ignore Trump's hyperbolic rhetoric, is reminiscent of the spin from White House staff while Trump was president. In Palm Beach Tuesday, Wiles' pitch appeared to work, at least on some of the participants. Neither Wiles nor a Trump campaign spokesperson returned requests for comment before publication. A spokeswoman for the Haley campaign said the events this week in New York raised over $1.5 million.

These costly trips and travel perks often went unreported on the justice’s financial disclosure forms, ProPublica said in its investigation. Lynne Sladky/APProPublica interviewed more than 100 people, including staff that would have worked some of the trips that Thomas took. Thomas did not respond to ProPublica’s detailed list of questions for its report, nor did Novelly. None of the Thomas benefactors highlighted in the new report appear to have had direct business in front of the Supreme Court, ProPublica said. Thomas intends to amend his financial disclosure forms, a source close to the justice previously told CNN, to at least reflect Crow’s 2014 purchase of Thomas’ mother’s home.

JD Vance backs it, arguing it protects voters from "out of state" interests ahead of an abortion referendum. If the ballot measure passes, future amendments to the state constitution would require at least 60% support among voters to be enacted. The change has been pushed by Ohio Republicans ahead of a referendum in November on enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution. Republican megadonor Peter Thiel is not planning to donate to any 2024 GOP candidates. Sources told Reuters that he's unhappy with the GOP's positions on abortions and transgender rights. One source, a Thiel business associate, said that the GOP's positions on abortion and restrictions on which bathrooms transgender students can use in schools contributed to his decision. Thiel contributed more than $25 million to federal-level GOP candidates in 2022, making him the 10th largest donor to either party in the midterm congressional elections, according to Reuters, which cited OpenSecrets data. The news that Thiel does not intend to contribute to GOP candidates in 2024 follows reports that Republican megadonors are souring on Gov.

Team Stand for America's filing says the group received individual donations from wealthy donors ranging from $5,000 to $16,600. The joint fundraising committee finished raising over $4.3 million, while the Haley campaign itself brought in around $5.1 million, according to FEC records. Team Stand for America transferred about $1.8 million to the Haley campaign on March 31, according to the records. Leonard Stern, the CEO of real estate firm Hartz Mountain Industries, contributed the same amount as Hamm to Team Stand for America in March.
