A federal judge disclosed the identities of George Santos's bail sponsors: His dad and aunt. Santos was personally responsible for giving reasons to unseal their names, a judge wrote. He personally fueled the "media frenzy" cited to keep their identities private, according to the judge. US District Judge Joanna Seybert commented on Santos's conduct in an order issued on Tuesday and unsealed on Thursday, along with the bail sponsors. Santos personally fed that frenzy by speaking to members of the media following his May arraignment in federal court on Long Island, Seybert wrote in her ruling.

WASHINGTON, Feb 25 (Reuters) - A Republican congressman's court battle to protect his cellphone records has prevented federal investigators from reviewing over 2,200 documents in their investigation of then-President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the result of the 2020 election, according to newly unsealed court documents. An investigation by the U.S. House of Representatives' Jan. 6 committee last year revealed Perry was in frequent contact with Trump White House officials in the weeks before the attack. On Thursday, an attorney for Perry asked an appellate court to reverse Judge Howell's lower court ruling that his communications were not within a "legitimate legislative sphere." A Justice Department attorney urged the judicial panel not to block the congressman's cellphone from investigators. George Santos' campaign spent thousands at an Italian restaurant in Queens during his run for Congress. That's enough money to buy 1,131 orders of the restaurant's $23 rigatoni bolognese, or nearly 1,800 pizzas. The embattled first-time Republican congressman's campaign spent more than $26,000 in funds at an Italian joint in Queens, New York, updated financial disclosure documents from his campaign show. Santos' financial disclosures also revealed he owes the restaurant another $18,773.54 for a campaign election night event. Representatives for George Santos' campaign did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
The embattled freshman congressman has also faced calls from fellow New York Republicans to step down over fabrications about his career and history. Three years later, Santos competed in a drag beauty pageant in Rio, Rochard said. Another person from Niteroi who knew the congressman but asked not to be named said he participated in drag queen beauty pageants and aspired to be Miss Gay Rio de Janeiro. Santos is the first openly gay Republican to win a House seat in Congress as a non-incumbent, but has positioned himself as a staunch conservative on many social issues. Santos competed in a drag beauty pageant that year but lost, Rochard said.
His name was actually Sam Miele, and he worked for Santos raising money for his campaign, according to one GOP donor who contributed to Santos' campaign. In raising money for his campaign, Santos fed donors the same falsehoods he gave voters, campaign fundraisers and others say. "We were duped," said a Republican political strategist close to GOP donors and the leadership of the Republican Jewish Coalition. The RJC is considered the most prominent group of Jewish Republican donors, making gatherings such as the Hanukkah event key networking platforms for politicians. Vallone gave $17,900 in August between Santos' campaign, his leadership PAC and a joint fundraising committee, according to FEC records.
