Generative artificial intelligence has taken Silicon Valley by storm since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022. There was a lot of optimism over the potential of GenAI gadgets at the CES trade show in January, said Paul Gagnon, vice president for analyst firm Circana. Additionally, consumers may find current GenAI devices too expensive, and they may be confused about what the devices can actually do, he said. The reality is that while GenAI has captivated Silicon Valley, it's still "inning zero" in regard to widespread adoption, Bajarin said. Laws in three states have enacted tougher restrictions for people who help voters with disabilities, language or other issues cast their ballots. Latino groups who have sued Texas, Arkansas and Missouri over these laws are warning that those who need help to vote in November’s elections may not get the assistance they need. “Many Latino voters have disabilities or English is not their first language. “We have to remember that the number of Latino voters who participated in 2020 was higher than the number needed to tip the presidential election results. According to data from the Pew Research Center, in Arkansas there are approximately 83,000 Latino voters who are eligible to participate in elections; in Missouri's case, it's 125,000.

Apple shipped 50.1 million units In the first quarter, down 9.6% from the 55.4 million shipments in the same period a year earlier, according to the IDC report. Among the top five smartphone brands in the report, Apple recorded the sharpest decline year on year. Its market share was 22.5% in the first quarter of 2023. Apple, which surpassed Samsung as the largest smartphone maker in 2023, saw its market share drop to 17.3% from 20.7% a year earlier. Xiaomi's shipments rose 33.8% to 40.8 million units in the first quarter, while Transsion saw an 84.9% jump to 28.5 million units.

Google beefed up the Pixel line up with its latest mobile processor, Tensor G3, which brings several machine learning and generative AI models natively on the device. Pixel 8 starts at $699 and Pixel 8 Pro at $999, $100 pricier than the previous generation models. Google Pixel globally ranks 12th in terms of shipments, with a 0.9% share, according to IDC. The company launched Google Watch 2, an upgrade over the first smartwatch launched in October last year, starting at $349.
