Ben Higgins tried to parlay his Bachelor success into a political career, but the campaign didn't last long. The focus on Bachelor Nation also makes sense given the franchise's viewership is dominated by one of the most crucial swing votes of recent elections: white women. In the past two presidential elections, white women were the most closely split demographic subgroup tracked by major exit polls. In 2016, Donald Trump won over 52% of white women against Hillary Clinton's 43%, exit polls found, while Trump bested Joe Biden in 2020 among white women 55% to 44%. The overlap between the swingiest demographic and the "Bachelor" audience suggests Bachelor Nation has value to those who seek to lead our nation.

When Paris hosted the Olympics in 1924, it was the first time athletes stayed together in a village. The Olympic Village made its debut at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Hulton Archive/Getty ImagesBefore 1924, delegations stayed in hotels, military buildings, or with local families in host cities, according to the Olympics Studies Centre. "A contract has to be formed and charges have to be fixed each time," the IOC said. The organizers of the 1924 Paris Olympics also believed housing athletes together had benefits beyond logistics and cost.

FRANKFURT, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Germany's Steag gave details on Friday about the return and operation of 2,500 megawatts (MW) of coal-fired power station capacity to the wholesale market to help boost energy supplies this winter. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com RegisterBoth sites are in Germany's southwestern Saarland state and can together supply four million households with power. Steag said it had informed the federal network regulatory agency, power transmission grid company Amprion and the EEX (DB1Gn.DE) power exchange of its intentions. The total power capacity is equivalent to just under 4% of German power generation in 2021 and to one third of electricity generated from natural gas last year, Steag said.
