AdvertisementI'm Australian but spend part of the year in New Orleans, and there's been some culture shock. Long before my first visit to New Orleans, I fell in love with the US city's historic culture. I'm still getting used to American coffeeI don't see much drip coffee in Australia, but it's everywhere in the US. I'm used to a certain standard and flavor. CNN —Lindsey Vonn, one of the greatest skiers of all-time, is set to end her five-year retirement and return to the sport. “Getting back to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey,” Vonn said in a US Ski & Snowboard statement on Thursday. Read previewI met my partner in New Orleans right before COVID changed everything, and I never thought our relationship would involve dealing with international borders and visa rules. Spending my 50th birthday alone in Australia after getting deported was devastating. Related storiesWhen I finally returned to the US with the correct visa, I thought the worst was behind me. AdvertisementLiving between two countries comes with its own set of challenges, and the trauma of being deported has only made it harder. Rene and I have had to learn to cope with constant travel, time apart, and the fear of facing immigration again.

I used to route my flights through Europe, which allowed me to explore new-to-me cities before heading home. But once I discovered Changi Airport in Singapore, it quickly became the stop I planned my entire trip around. But when I stopped at Changi, I wished I had more time to explore. Ree WinterMaking a nearly 24-hour trek four times a year is a hassle, but Changi Airport has made the harrowing journey a little easier to swallow. The blend of advanced travel tech, luxury amenities, and thoughtful design makes Changi more than just a stopover — it's an experience I look forward to every time I travel.

El Niño is one of three phases of the El Niño Southern Oscillation, which tracks water temperature changes in the equatorial Pacific Ocean that can have rippling effects on weather patterns around the globe. A wetter southern tier and a drier northern tier in an outlook for this winter from the Climate Prediction Center have all the fingerprints of an El Niño winter. El Niño winter patterns are less regular in California, the Southwest and the Northeast. The Northeast doesn’t have a well-defined set of expectations during an El Niño winter. A very strong El Niño during the 2015-2016 winter contributed to the warmest winter on record for the US mainland, according to NOAA.

Working stocks in underground storage amounted to 1,900 billion cubic feet on March 17, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the highest for the time of year since 2020 and before that 2017. Stocks were 242 billion cubic feet (+15% or +0.54 standard deviations) above the prior ten-year seasonal average (“Weekly natural gas storage report”, EIA, March 23). The seasonal storage surplus was a total transformation from a deficit of 263 billion cubic feet (-8% or -0.98 standard deviations) on Jan. 1 and 427 bcf (-13% or -1.52 standard deviations) on Sept. 9. But liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports increased to a record 3,866 billion cubic feet, an even faster increase of 8.6% compared with 2021. Germany halted certification of the new Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia because of the Ukraine war so it never went into operation. Germany, Europe's biggest consumer of Russian gas, can import gas from Britain, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands via pipelines. Southern Europe can receive Azeri gas via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline to Italy and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) through Turkey. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to Europe have increased from producers such as the United States, Qatar and other countries. OTHER OPTIONS TO COPE WITH A GAS SUPPLY CRUNCH?
