Horton makes the most sense as a Kamala Harris stock because of a promised $25,000 toward a first home. I don't know if either candidate can pull off huge tariffs (Trump) or a credit (Harris). Here are eleven surprising things about this earnings season that you can store up and pull out when the election is confirmed. The deficit will begin to hurt the stock market hard next year even if the economy continues to cool. Away from the hyperscalers, I like Marvell , where CEO Matt Murphy bought $1 million worth of stock in the open market.

The legal overhang on Abbott Labs has been real, even if shares have found some traction in recent months. Bottom line Abbott Labs still faces other cases over its specialized formulas across the country, but Thursday night's win is significant. Abbott shares traded around 22 times forward earnings estimates Friday, below their five-year average of 24, according to FactSet. With victory in hand, Abbott Labs will now begin the next phase of its legal fight on much stronger ground. CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday discussed Starbucks ' management shake-up, saying the new leadership will be crucial to turn the business around after the ubiquitous coffee chain announced it would replace CEO Laxman Narasimhan with Brian Niccol, who is currently the CEO of Chipotle . "Brian Niccol is the key to a new Starbucks, one that can reclaim its old mantle as the 'third place' — you just need to know that this turnaround can't happen overnight," he said. According to Cramer, Narasimhan wasn't the right person for the role, saying Starbucks needed an executive familiar with the fast-food industry to effectively solve its issues. Niccol's record at Chipotle makes him a great fit for the role, Cramer said. "No, Starbucks brought in Brian Niccol, the man who almost singlehandedly turned around Chipotle, to run the business.

In the meantime, we received some terrific feedback from members after revealing in late May five stocks we would buy right here, right now. So which stocks would I buy right now? And while we expect Monday may not be a good day for tech stocks — remember it is only day three of the rotation — you have to buy AMD before the tide turns back to tech. I said that Best Buy was much more than just a brick-and-mortar company and that its integrity was high. More importantly, like AMD, Best Buy is where people will try out a new AI PC.

But the team was uncertain about how, so it turned to Boston Consulting Group for help. Reckitt’s request was one of hundreds that Boston Consulting Group received last year. The deal to acquire investment firm Carlyle's (CG.O) 28% holding in the burger chain's China business, which also includes its stores in Hong Kong and Macau, will see McDonald's stake rise to 48%. Since 2017, the number of McDonald's stores in China has doubled to 5,500 and the country has become its second-largest market. McDonald's made an unsolicited offer for Carlyle's stake in the China operations in recent weeks and the deal was struck quickly, said the sources. Reuters reported in August that Trustar Capital was planning to raise a continuation fund that would allow the Chinese private equity firm to sell down its stake in McDonald's China. In contrast to McDonald's, U.S. meat and processed food maker Tyson Foods (TSN.N) plans to sell its China poultry business, sources have said.

The company's third-quarter sales volumes were also up against a tough comparative period from last year, when the recall of a rival U.S.-based company's infant formula boosted sales of Reckitt's Enfamil products there. Reckitt said quarterly like-for-like net sales rose 3.4%, behind the 3.7% growth analysts had expected in a company-supplied poll. Rival consumer products makers who have raised prices over the past two years have said in recent weeks that sales volumes could soon see improvements. The price/mix for Reckitt's products, which include Nurofen tablets and Durex condoms, rose 7.5%. Volumes declined 4.1% compared with last year.

Signage is seen outside of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) headquarters in White Oak, Maryland, U.S., August 29, 2020. The FDA pulled up these companies for failing to establish processes to ensure infant formula does not become contaminated during manufacturing. The recalls were meant to remove products potentially contaminated with the bacteria cronobacter sakazakii, the FDA added. "The agency... believes that the recalls were effective in removing the potentially contaminated batches of product from the market," the FDA said. Infant formula manufacturing is under greater scrutiny following the shortage of the product last year due to a shutdown of Abbott Laboratories' (ABT.N) unit in Michigan.

Bank of America has named multiple European "top stocks" it says are of "good value, low risk" and "high quality." All of them turned up on "recession screens" for July, in a market BofA described as a being in a recession style cycle. The euro zone entered recession in the first quarter of the year, according to economic data released last month. Energy companies the bank named include Shell , German company EON and Italian firm Enel . During recession cycles, investors have benefited from being overweight on value stocks rather than growth stocks, as well as on stocks with strong balance sheets and lower risk, BofA added, citing research based on a testing period between 1992 and 2003.
