Postal Service announced Friday that one of its 2025 Forever Stamp offerings will include an illustration of White. The collection has honored a man one year and a woman the next, according to the Postal Service. The stamp includes a photo of Toussaint taken by Bill Tompkins in 2007, according to the Postal Service. The Dallas-area influencer who had her spider monkey taken from her Saturday after a drunk driving crash is under investigation after the monkey was determined to be malnourished, officials said Friday. Brandi Botello's spider monkey, named Jorgie Boy, was taken from her following the crash in which Dallas police arrested the driver on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She told the station she was drunk and asleep in the passenger seat while holding Jorgie Boy when the crash happened. Jorgie Boy is the size of a 1-year-old monkey even though he will turn 3 in February. It might take over a year to get Jorgie Boy to a point where he is strong enough to play with other monkeys again, Johns said.

The man accused of killing Georgia nursing student Laken Riley has waived his right to a jury, paving the way for his bench trial, which is expected to begin Friday morning. Clark described Riley’s killing as a "crime of opportunity, where he saw an individual and bad things happened," and said the killing appeared to be a solo act. The University of Georgia said Riley had been a student through the 2023 spring semester before she transferred to Augusta University. The monkey, named Jorgie Boy, was taken from his owner, Brandi Botello, on Saturday morning after Dallas police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident. Botello told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that she was charged with DWI but maintained that she was not driving. Botello told the station that the driver was a male acquaintance and that he was charged with public intoxication. Because Botello lives in Irving, a neighboring suburb, the monkey was transferred to Irving's animal control department, Dallas police said. The sanctuary's owner said the monkey would not be returned to its previous owner, the Morning News reported.

Trump’s 1.5-point win in Osceola County flipped a location that President Joe Biden won by 14 points four years earlier. One of the 43 monkeys that escaped from a South Carolina research facility Wednesday night has been "successfully recovered unharmed," officials said Saturday. As of Thursday night, the monkeys had been located in the wooded region surrounding the Alpha Genesis facility, in a rural area on the edge of Yamassee. Police emphasized Saturday there is not a current threat to public health, citing the research facility. Staff members at Alpha Genesis were working to entice them with food as well. Police urged the public to stay away from the area surrounding Alpha Genesis as the monkeys can be easily startled.

A brush fire broke out Friday night in Prospect Park, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, amid a drought that has been plaguing the northeastern U.S. for weeks. The New York City Fire Department posted about the fire on X at around 8 p.m. and said "operations are ongoing." On Thursday, "temperatures soared to well above normal readings," the National Weather Service office in New York said. The entire New York City region was under a red flag warning Friday, the weather service said, with wind gusts up to 30 mph possible. Three people were charged in relation to the death of singer Liam Payne, Argentina's public prosecutor announced in a statement Thursday. The prosecutor's statement said that during the investigation into Payne's death, "illicit conduct was discovered from which three people were charged with the crimes of abandonment of a person followed by death, supply and facilitation of narcotics." Someone who was with Payne on a daily basis while he was in Buenos Aires is charged with abandoning a person following death, Andrés Madrea's statement said. Forensic workers remove the body of British singer Liam Payne from the hotel where he died in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Oct. 16. Throughout the investigation, "exhaustive and meticulous actions and measures were taken to clarify the circumstances surrounding the artist's death," the statement said.

Orlando, Florida, police released the identities of the two men killed in a Halloween shooting in downtown Orlando last week. Tyrek Hill, 25, and Timothy Schmidt Jr., 19, were killed Friday when a gunman opened fire shortly after 1 a.m. during a Halloween celebration, police said. At a news conference Friday, Police Chief Eric Smith said Halloween is one of Orlando’s busiest nights of the year, with crowds of 50,000 to 100,000. About 100 police officers were patrolling the area and tackled the shooter soon after the shots were fired, Smith said.
