New York CNN —Indian billionaire Gautam Adani and other executives were indicted in New York for roles in a multi-billion-dollar fraud scheme, the US Department of Justice said Wednesday. Authorities said Adani and seven other senior business executives, including his nephew Sagar Adani, promised more than $250 million in bribes to Indian government officials to secure solar energy contracts. Worth more than $85 billion, Adani is Asia’s second-richest person behind countryman Mukesh Ambani, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. The solar energy supply contracts were projected to raise more than $2 billion in profits after tax over an approximately 20-year period. The proposed class-action lawsuit filed Monday claims Chipotle understated customer dissatisfaction regarding its “highly inconsistent” portion sizes in official disclosures. “First, there was never a directive to provide less to our customers,” Niccol said during the earnings call. After that earnings call on October 30, Chipotle stock dipped 7.86%. The proposed class action would make eligible anyone who purchased or sold Chipotle stock from February 8 to October 29, 2024.

Last week, KFC accused Church’s Texas Chicken of violating its trademark rights when its fried chicken competitor began using the words “Original Recipe” in its advertising and promotions. KFC claimed in a lawsuit that beginning September 30, it noticed Church’s “abruptly” began using the phrase and ignored KFC’s October 24 letter objecting to the ads. In the disputed promotions, Church’s posted photos of its fried chicken deals with text above reading: “our original recipe is back.”The phrase, which KFC has been using for over half a century, “is likely to create confusion in the marketplace and dilute the ORIGINAL RECIPE® Mark,” the lawsuit, which was filed in US District Court in Texas, said. But when it comes to fried chicken, KFC also has to compete with Church’s Texas Chicken, Popeyes, Raising Cane’s, Zaxby’s and more. More than 30 years ago, Edwards recorded four iconic lines for what was then a little-known company called America Online. His wife, Karen, worked at Quantum Computer Services, which eventually became AOL, Edwards said in an AOL YouTube video in 2012. She volunteered her husband, and Edwards recorded the phrases on a cassette deck in his living room. “I didn’t enjoy being on camera as much as I enjoyed being behind the scenes,” Edwards said on the podcast.

The Apple Card issued by Goldman Sachs and running on the Mastercard network rolled out in August 2019. Berry Chantilly fans say they were victims of skimpflation, a member of the shrinkflation and inflation family. New York CNN —DirecTV announced Monday it’s buying rival Dish Network, ending multiple decades of on-and-off talks about the satellite services merging. The agreement provides DirecTV and Dish with greater scale, a DirecTV spokesperson told CNN. The newly merged DirecTV-Dish entity will continue to support the Dish brand for the foreseeable future, the DirecTV spokesperson said. DirecTV does not currently have plans to make changes to the existing Dish or Sling TV brands, meaning that current Dish customers should not be concerned about being forced over to DirecTV. The deal also strengthens the duo’s foothold in the industry, allowing them to more easily compete with pay TV rivals and streaming services.

The ridehailing company will now deliver costumes, makeup, and even decorations from Spirit Halloween, the largest Halloween retailer in North America, Uber announced in a press release Friday. Big-box retailers are getting into Halloween earlier and earlier, suggesting American consumers continue spending on the October holiday even as they pull back from other discretionary purchases. Customers in the US and Canada can buy their Chipotle burrito costume for the same price as in store, but without having to visit the seasonal Halloween store that pops up in abandoned storefronts every year, Uber said. Of course, there will still be the fees associated with Uber Eats delivery. Uber Eats has also partnered with Big Lots, Lowe’s, Michael’s and Party City for on-demand delivery.

New York CNN —In 2017, adult party game Cards Against Humanity bought land on the US-Mexico border to meddle with former President Donald Trump’s border wall. Now it’s suing over that land after another controversial billionaire has allegedly moved in without permission. Chicago-based Cards Against Humanity LLC, the publisher of the popular card game, filed a $15 million civil lawsuit Thursday against Elon Musk’s SpaceX over alleged trespassing on its lot in Cameron County, Texas. While the Cards Against Humanity’s land was vacant when purchased, the lawsuit claimed SpaceX began encroaching on its property, which is located just three miles away from SpaceX’s Starbase launch facility. The lawsuit claimed by allowing Musk’s company “to essentially steal the Property from CAH without remorse or even explanation,” CAH’s reputation with its supporters would be damaged.

New York CNN —First, YouTube subjected viewers to longer unskippable ads. The Google-owned platform confirmed Thursday that it has “widely rolled out Pause ads to all advertisers.” When the video is paused, an ad will pop up on the side of the screen, according to social media posts.
