Spotify's HR chief told Raconteur that the company will maintain its work-from-anywhere policy. AdvertisementAmazon might be ordering employees back to the office 5 days a week, but don't expect Spotify to follow suit. Spotify's latest reaffirmation of its WFA policy bucks the current trend of companies pushing to get employees in the office more days a week. Many executives and leaders have attributed their RTO mandates to increased productivity and collaboration when employees work together in the office. "Over time, this drawback could dramatically undermine the character and culture you want to promote in your company," Dimon added.

London-based photographer Caroline Furneaux was confronted with these questions after sifting through boxes of her father’s 35mm slides in the years following his sudden death in his 70s. Furneaux felt as if she had stumbled upon a different version of her father and his life. Caroline FurneauxFurneaux explores these fragments of her father’s life throughout the book. It was a precious collection because his stepmother had burned all the family photos and other ephemera from the past, Furneaux told CNN. Furneaux intentionally didn’t include any couple’s shots, still finding it strange to picture her father with his past romances.

We spoke to Swisher on Monday to get her insight on some of the challenges facing the media and tech landscape today. And they didn’t anticipate that these tech companies were going to get into media. If so, why haven’t legacy media companies been able to lure in top tech talent to improve their products? Media companies do not get to live by the same anti-gravity rules that tech companies have been able to. But media companies didn’t offer the same kind of upside.

The dress radiates the energy of a Jackson Pollock canvas — black and daffodil-yellow on shimmering silver brocade, hand-painted to generate the perfect luster for the stage. It stands out in that show’s sea of impeccable suits. Bergl calls it the Dress. “I’m not discrediting my performance in ‘Good Night, Oscar’ when I say that the Dress does half the work,” she said. When Bergl first met the man behind the Dress, the costume designer Emilio Sosa, he told her, “June Levant’s clothes are armor.”

During the past 25 years, Jason Moran has established himself as one of the most cutting-edge pianists and composers in jazz, but some of his most compelling work has been historical in nature. In 2007, he produced the live performance “In My Mind,” a reconsideration and exploration of the work of Thelonious Monk and that jazz great’s iconic 1959 Town Hall concert. In 2011, he presented “Fats Waller Dance Party,” which celebrated the stride-piano master and legendary raconteur and led to a recording three years later. His latest project focuses on an oft-overlooked pioneer of jazz, James Reese Europe (1881-1919), a composer and bandleader who mentored such vital early 20th-century musicians as Eubie Blake and Noble Sissle and whose early work prefigured jazz.
But for 60 years, Art Cashin has been one of the most influential men on Wall Street. Cashin is that rare exception: a man who knows what he was talking about, and sounds like he knows. Tiffany, Cashin said, knew that Morgan loved diamond stickpins, which he used to put in his tie. How do you tell a story about the stock market? Let's get back to the story about J.P. Morgan, Tiffany, and price discovery.

It's often touted that modern generations are more willing to job-hop than their predecessors, but is this helpful for their careers? Will Brookes, CEO of business news company Raconteur, doesn't think so. But Brookes said that riding out the career lows in order to experience the career highs helped him climb the ladder to CEO. "We've had some tricky times over the years, but I've always believed in the cause I've always loved the culture," Brookes said of his career so far at Raconteur. "I stuck with the business and I like to think I've helped the business get back to a really high level of success.
There’s a word that people use to describe men who get sloppy drunk, grope women, bully their subordinates and, when they issue a letter of public apology, include a recipe for cinnamon rolls. The word, unprintable, comes to mind several times during “Batali: The Fall of a Superstar Chef.”But Mario Batali , ex-celebrity chef and onetime evangelist for refined Italian cookery, is not a criminal—not according to the New York City Police Department, which dropped an investigation into sexual-assault accusations. Or a judge in Boston, who found him not guilty of similar charges. He is and will remain—especially after this documentary—a disgraced restaurateur-raconteur and alleged sexual harasser who will give viewers a bad taste in their mouths. The film might, too.
