New York CNN —The Jeep Gladiator was unveiled to great fanfare by then-owner Fiat Chrysler in 2018, the first pickup model for the hot brand in more than a quarter of a century. Gladiator sales have fallen steadily from the 2020 peak as a result and are down another 21% so far this year. The company’s relentless focus on short-term profits for 2023 had devastating consequences for Stellantis, Farris wrote. Here are five takeaways on the voters Trump won and what it means moving forward:The Latino realignmentA trend with the potential to remake the American political landscape is the huge shift in Latino voters toward Trump. Trump’s 1.5-point win in Osceola County flipped a location that President Joe Biden won by 14 points four years earlier. Trump’s performance similarly improved in Orange County, home of Orlando, where Biden won by 23 points in 2020 but Harris won by just 5.6 points this year. Trump’s gains are explained in part by his appeals to Black men, and his efforts to reach out to Arab American voters. Harris won by 10 points and 85,000 votes — short of the 14-point, 114,000-vote win Biden had notched there in 2020.

GM CEO Mary Barra and Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson will hold a conference call with analysts. The United Auto Workers union on Monday said members had approved a new labor deal through April 2028 that will boost GM's labor costs, including an immediate 11% pay hike. Before the additional $1 billion in cuts announced in July, the automaker earlier this year said it would cut fixed costs by $2 billion by the end of 2024.

This raised doubts over whether SEC rules would survive a court challenge. An SEC spokesperson declined to comment on Scope 3 emissions and when the climate disclosure rules will be finalized. Even some advocates of climate action have expressed concerns about the logistical challenges of accurately calculating Scope 3 emissions. The UAW's GM vote tracking site shows approval of the contract leading by a 55% to 45% margin with nearly 36,000 workers having cast votes out of about 46,000 UAW-represented GM workers. Currently, about 67% of Ford workers who have voted are in favor of the UAW deal, and about 66% of Stellantis workers have so far voted in favor, according to UAW figures. Ford voting is scheduled to finish on Friday, while Stellantis is set to close next Tuesday.

☆ Auto strikes sink US manufacturing output in October

Manufacturing output fell 0.7% last month, the Federal Reserve said on Thursday. Excluding motor vehicles and parts, manufacturing production edged up 0.1%. Overall industrial production dropped 0.6% in October after edging up 0.1% in September. It is now eight-tenths of a percentage point below to its 1972–2022 average. The operating rate for the manufacturing sector slipped to 77.2% from 77.8% in the prior month and is one percentage point below its long-run average.
