New York AP —A New York woman is challenging the longstanding rules of Miss America and Miss World that disqualify mothers from their beauty pageants. Joe Frederick/APSpokespersons for the Miss America and Miss World pageant organizations didn’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment Monday. A spokesperson for the human rights commission said the agency does not comment on open investigations. Allred noted that she previously had success challenging a similar rule for a California mother denied eligibility to compete in the Miss California pageant, which is part of the Miss Universe and Miss USA organizations. Didusenko, who has since created an organization advocating for an end to beauty pageant bans on mothers, said she lost her legal challenge in Ukraine but is seeking relief from the European Court of Human Rights.

Thirteen mouse mummies were found atop volcanoes in Chile and Argentina about 20,000 feet above sea level. The discovery has baffled scientists who did not think mammals could live at such high elevations. The species is known to live at high elevations, but baffled scientists at more than 20,000 feet. The scientists are now looking for signs of physiological adaptations that may allow these mice to survive at high elevations with low oxygen levels. Storz's team is also continuing to search the volcano tops for signs of mice, living or mummified.

This remote town is also where an alleged graft and money-laundering scheme related to the El Calafate hotels owned by the Kirchner family took place. In El Calafate, architect Walter Pieroni said some properties on the edge of the main commercial center could go days without water because of poor planning. In Santa Cruz, a province of some 333,000 people, fixing things was once the role of the Kirchners. Under the Kirchners, an airport was built in El Calafate, roads were paved to the glaciers, and plots of land were distributed to locals. Currently the “days supply” of electric vehicles – a measure of the number units on dealer lots relative to how quickly they sell – is now twice that of new vehicles overall. The biggest bargain among electric vehicles currently, whether you lease or buy, happens to be one that’s going away soon. CNN —You’ve probably seen shocking headlines saying the average price of a new car has reached about $48,000, according to industry analysts like Edmunds.com. The Chevrolet Trax, with a starting price around $20,000, garnered compliments on a recent test drive. The 2023 Kia Rio was rated as the best overall value by Cars.com. “The Nissan Versa [with a manual transmission] is like sixteen and change, and that’s a really, really pretty nice car,” said Quiroga. “But if you’re if you’re willing to persist and stick to your budget, you absolutely can [find a good inexpensive car] if you can keep an open mind.”

Bloomberg includes plug-in hybrids in its count of “electric vehicles,” but a large majority are purely battery-powered models. It’s unclear exactly why 5% seems to mark the point where EV sales really take off. The Mustang Mach-E, which hit the market in in 2021, was the first electric vehicle to take a notable chunk of Tesla’s still-dominant EV market share. The act, passed this year, changes the rules around which electric vehicles are eligible for consumer tax credits. Given their popularity and already high sales, incentive rules could help push EV sales significantly higher.
