My son has just married, so I am no longer the queen of his universe. I regret making my children the center of my world because they no longer need me as adults. I've always made my children the center of my world, but now that they're adults, I'm struggling to understand my role in their lives. When Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne, her mother became Queen Mother. Now, I struggle with the realization that my children no longer need me in the way they once did.

Despite all the scandals and tragedies, the royal lifestyle in “The Crown” looked enviably lavish. During six seasons, Queen Elizabeth II rode around London in a golden carriage, pulled by six horses. For most viewers, watching the show, which ended in December, was the closest they could get to the trappings of royal life. Those include two porcelain corgis that appeared on the queen’s writing desk ($380) and the Queen Mother’s drinks tray and champagne swizzle stick ($101). The version of the revenge dress that Elizabeth Debicki wears on “The Crown” has an estimated lot price of $10,000 to $15,000 in the Bonhams sale.

However, the main characteristic of a patriarchal society is one where men hold more power and authority which subsequently leads to male privilege. As such, a woman's place in a patriarchal society is primarily to be homemakers, procreators or caregivers. Gender inequality -- the unequal treatment of someone based solely on their gender -- is an outcome of patriarchal societies but the terms do not mean the same thing. Despite strides towards sex equality that have been gaining momentum for more than a century, the US remains a patriarchal society. While not evenly accorded to all males, being assigned male at birth in a patriarchal society comes with privileges.

In journeying to Russia, Tarimo was following the route of many young Africans, including future heads of state, since the 1960s. Tarimo also ended up treading the path of a handful of other Africans who took up arms for Wagner in Ukraine. The presidents of South Africa and Zambia are now among a group of African leaders seeking to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. In November last year, his family learned he too had died in Ukraine fighting for Wagner. He said that, like Tarimo, Nyirenda cast his desire to join Wagner as repayment for Soviet and Russian support of African anti-colonial movements.

A King Who Actually Likes the Arts

With these varied interests, Charles is the most culturally attuned monarch for well over a century. In the 17th century, Charles I, a patron of painters including Rubens and Van Dyck, built one of Europe’s most important art collections. But where previous monarchs were known for their passions, Charles has often been defined by the things he doesn’t like. In a phone interview, O’Regan said that once you “delved into Charles’s likes and dislikes,” a picture emerged of a man whose interests were “obviously nuanced.”“He’s someone who is clearly very affected by music and other arts,” O’Regan said. “I remember being so completely transfixed by the magic of it,” Charles said during a 2018 radio interview.

REUTERS/Molly DarlingtonLONDON, May 2 (Reuters) - Margaret Tyler's fascination with the British royal family began as a child, when she would cut out photos of the now-King Charles III and his sister, Princess Anne. The 79-year-old, just four years older than the British monarch, is among the royal super fans who cannot contain her excitement for his coronation this Saturday. I sort of followed them, Princess Anne as a toddler, really, Prince Charles a bit older. Tyler's obsession has filled her home in northwest London, with rooms named after members of the royal family and little space to move among piles of royal memorabilia including flags, photos and china.

The Chairs of Estate that will be used during the early parts of the service and for the coronation of Camilla were made for the coronation of Charles' mother Queen Elizabeth in 1953, the palace said. Charles and Camilla will also be seated in the Throne Chairs during some parts of the coronation. Those chairs were made for the coronation in 1937 of King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth, later known as Queen Mother. The Chairs of Estate and Throne Chairs from the Royal Collection "have been conserved, restored and adapted as required," the palace said.

The Most Unpredictable Horse Race in the World

Because horses have so few opportunities to race over the larger fences, many of the horses in the field will have tried them perhaps only once before, or never. A horse who has been successful in ordinary steeplechases may turn out to be unable to deal with the higher fences. Unless entrants have raced in the National before, they will be trying such a long distance for the first time. In most horse races, it is not uncommon for many of the horses to have raced one another several times in recent months, giving a good sense of which ones are better than the others. Most of them race just a few times a season.

Conversations about the diamond — also spelled Koh-i-noor — which is part of the British crown jewels, have been trending on social media amid coverage of the queen’s death, with users posting their opinions about the empire — and memes about stealing the diamond back. “The actual histories of British imperialism tell a much different story, one of horrific violence, dispossession, prejudice and significant economic exploitation,” she said.
