Texas is the highest-ranked SEC team in the College Football Playoff at No. But the SEC team that no one wants to play right now is one that isn’t even in the top 10. Advertisement“If you ask me right now which team I’d least want to face, it’s Ole Miss,” said an SEC defensive coordinator of a Top 25 team. Ole Miss has 23 more TFLs than anyone else in the SEC (103) and 18 more than anyone else in the country. A big piece of that impact is due to the commitment Ole Miss made this offseason to upgrading its talent in the trenches through the portal.

18 Ole Miss’ goal is still technically in reach, but the 29-26 overtime loss to LSU on Oct. 12 sharply steepened the odds. He founded his own business before agreeing to lead Ole Miss’ NIL collective in the middle of 2022. The winds of change were blowing heavily toward an expanded Playoff, making Ole Miss’ dreams of inclusion more within reach. London CNN —When Elvis Presley’s debut album took the charts by storm in 1956, “Blue Suede Shoes” was its opening track. Now, the King’s very own blue suede shoes have sold for the princely sum of £120,000 (around $152,000) after they went up for grabs at British auction house Henry Aldridge and Son on Friday. The shoes were bought by a client from California, Henry Aldridge and Son told CNN. That night Elvis gave me these blue suede shoes size 10 1/2. According to Henry Aldridge and Son, another iconic piece of music history was sold on the same day as Presley’s shoes.

Ahead of parliamentary elections widely expected to deliver gains to the hard right, European leaders can barely conceal their anxiety. What is power in contemporary Europe, and how should it be exercised by the European Union? Mr. Macron answered in princely fashion, showing awareness of both the finite nature of every political community — Europe is “mortal,” he said — and its cyclical vulnerability to crisis. Mr. Macron brushed aside the many Europeans who feel the bloc is aloof and inaccessible, describing their disenchantment as a result of “false arguments.” The dismissal was no aberration. This exclusion has changed the contours of the European landscape, paving the way for the radical right.

Read previewThe AI boom resembles the dot-com bubble — but there's one big difference that makes this craze far more dangerous, says one expert. "Many dot-com companies that drove the internet change went broke doing it. Many AI companies driving as big a change will go broke or lose half their value." "The giant AI pioneers won't go broke, but if AI losses drive their stock prices down, lots of investors will suffer," Gordon said. He's previously drawn a line between the dot-com bubble and the tech-stock boom.

On Monday in Manhattan, Allen Weisselberg pleaded guilty to two state felony counts of perjury. Both lies involved the size of Donald Trump's Trump Tower penthouse on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Weisselberg was at that sit-down with Forbes, assistant Manhattan district attorney Gary Fishman said Monday, during the ex-CFO's plea hearing. Engoron and state officials have contended that the square footage was intentionally inflated by Trump and Weisselberg as far back as 2012.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — The Super Bowl represents a natural ending point to the season, one for which every team in the NFL strives. “Listen,” Reid acknowledged this week, “every team is going to be a little bit different. The two biggest decisions staring at the Chiefs involve what to do with Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed. Jones, the All-Pro defensive tackle, has been a part of each of their Super Bowl runs, and the Chiefs would love to keep him around the next few years. The Chiefs probably would have the cash available for Jones if they didn't also want to sign Sneed to a long-term deal.

Mendoza, a former fighter for the now-disbanded Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas, dragged her children back inside the house. In interviews with Reuters, those people recounted how the attacks left conservation projects adrift, with conservationists withdrawing from environmental protection works because of fear of more violence. Municipal data from local environmental authorities and the Colombian Institute of Meteorology (IDEAM) also showed that in the year after each killing, deforestation at a local level was worse than national trends. Santofimio's killing brought his hard-fought conservation project to a halt. London CNN —If you drive an older, polluting car anywhere in London, starting Tuesday you’ll have to pay a princely charge of £12.50 ($15.70) per day. That followed the implementation of road pricing in 2003 aimed at reducing congestion in central London. The charge applies 24/7 to gasoline cars generally first registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before October 2015. New York City is now finally catching up. The New York toll is designed to lower the number of vehicles entering the congestion zone by at least 10% every day.

New Delhi CNN —Eleven people have been shot dead and 14 injured in a fresh outbreak of ethnic violence that has gripped the northeast Indian state of Manipur. The current unrest has seen some of the worst violence in recent years and has sparked criticism of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which governs Manipur. If they are given this status, other ethnic groups – many of whom are Christian – say they fear they will not have a fair chance for jobs and other benefits. For centuries, cheetahs roamed vast swaths of India and prowled among lions, tigers and leopards. Last year, the Indian government sought to bring cheetahs back by reintroducing the species to the country, bringing 20 in from South Africa and Namibia. In the latest case, a female cheetah was killed during a violent interaction with two older males after they were put in the same enclosure for the purpose of mating. Another male cheetah brought from South Africa in February died of apparent heart failure last month. And a female from the Namibia group, consisting of five males and three females, died of a suspected kidney ailment in March.
You would think that the architects who designed Vladimir Putin's palace thought of everything. They failed to hide plans showing two elaborate tunnels running beneath the palace complex — plans that any competent state-security apparatus would fight tooth-and-nail to keep secret. The underground complex beneath Putin's palace consists of two separate tunnels connected by an elevator that descends roughly 50 meters below the surface. Gelendzhik is the town closest to the palace complex, a five-hour drive from the resort city of Sochi. "With the war in Ukraine," Kimmage said, "there's speechmaking, there's propaganda, there's exaggeration — there's this performative aspect that plays to Russia's domestic politics.

‘Triptych of the Crucifixion and Sibyls’ (1584)Before the development of public museums as we know them, princes, aristocrats and wealthy spirits of a scholarly bent collected works of art and objects of wonderment, which they displayed in chambers known as “treasure rooms” or “cabinets of curiosities.” Along with preserved animals, fossils, mineral specimens and other scientific rarities, these collections often included works in gold and silver, precious enamels, sacred relics, mechanical automata and related objects. Princely collections like the Habsburg Imperial Treasury in Vienna and Dresden’s Green Vault ( Grünes Gewölbe), renowned in their day, remain so today.
