The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, participated in a regular Vatican meeting when the pope made the announcement to senior aides last week. Burke has had no senior Vatican job for years. On Nov. 11, the pope dismissed another conservative critic, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, after Strickland refused to step down following a Vatican investigation. Most recently, in October, Burke was one of five cardinals who openly challenged a global month-long Vatican meeting, known as a synod.

One Facebook user uploaded the footage (here) alongside the caption: “Pope St. John Paul's body was exhumed yesterday after 12 years. However, the video is at least 12 years old and it does not show Pope John Paul II’s real body. It is titled Reliquias del Papa Juan Pablo II (Relics of Pope John Paul II), while the description adds that it was recorded at a school. Although Pope John Paul II’s remains were exhumed in April 2011 (here), they were not moved from Italy to Mexico. The video shows a wax figure of Pope John Paul II being displayed 12 years ago.

REUTERS/Yara NardiMANAMA, Bahrain, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Pope Francis departed from Bahrain on Sunday after a four-day trip that culminated with a visit to the Gulf's oldest Catholic church, where he told bishops, priests and nuns to remain united as they ministered to the faithful in the majority Muslim area. Many Catholics also visit from neighbouring Saudi Arabia, which bars public worship by non-Muslims. At the end of the church service, Pope Francis thanked King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for Bahrain's "exquisite hospitality". Pope Francis' visit, where he closed an East-West dialogue hosted by Bahrain, continues his policy of improving ties with the Islamic world following a historic visit to the United Arab Emirates in 2019. Thousands of Catholics in Bahrain and from around the Gulf poured into a stadium to hear the Pope say Mass on Saturday.
