CNN —Poland is considering a Ukrainian proposal to intercept Russian rockets that are on course to hit cities in Ukraine or enter Polish territory, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said following a speech at the American Enterprise Institute on the sidelines of the NATO summit on Friday. “We are a frontline state and Russian missiles breach our airspace – we assume by mistake,” Sikorski said. Sikorski explained that some missiles fired from around St. Petersburg fly along the Polish border through Belarusian airspace, before briefly entering Polish airspace for about 40 seconds before hitting targets inside Ukraine. Sikorski said the idea of Poland downing Russian missiles was discussed in that agreement. “If NATO does not make such a decision, Poland will not make it individually,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

"For us, the voice of ordinary Poles is always decisive," PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski said in a video posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. He said that the first referendum question would be: "Do you support the sale of state-owned enterprises?". "The Germans want to embed Tusk in Poland to sell off common property, his background shows it directly," Kaczynski said. Another state-run broadcaster, Polskie Radio 24, reported that there would be four referendum questions in total. Poland's lower house of parliament will deal with legislation concerning the organisation of the referendums at its sitting on Aug. 16-17.

WARSAW, March 16 (Reuters) - Poland has broken up a espionage network operating in the country, the defence minister said on Thursday, after private broadcaster RMF FM reported that a group of spies working for Russia had been detained. RMF reported on Wednesday that Polish security services had detained six people suspected of spying for Russia. "This is undoubtedly proof that the Polish services work for the security of our country in a very efficient manner." According to the RMF report, the six people arrested were from countries to the east of Poland and were working for Russian intelligence. RMF reported that security had been stepped up around key railway routes and critical infrastructure as a result of the discovery of the spy network.

Poland accuses Russia and its ally Belarus of using migrants as part of a "hybrid warfare" campaign to destabilise Europe. Poland built a 5.5 metre (18 feet) tall steel barrier, equipped with motion sensors and cameras, stretching for about 187 km (116 miles) on the Belarus border. Poland had previously said the border guard had received funds to build an "electronic barrier" of sensors and cameras on the Kaliningrad border. Since Feb. 24, 7.26 million Ukrainians have entered Poland, according to the Polish Border Guard. Sobolewski also said there were signs of larger groups of migrants appearing at the Belarus border.

Polonia a raportat joi un număr record de 27.143 de cazuri noi de infectare cu coronavirus, apropiindu-se de pragul la care guvernul a spus că ar putea fi forţat să impună carantina la nivel naţional, transmite Agerpres. Miercuri, guvernul a anunţat noi restricţii pentru a limita transmiterea coronavirusului, precizând că va impune un lockdown total dacă numărul de infectări va continua să crească. Joi au fost raportate şi 367 de decese, puţin sub cel mai grav bilanţ zilnic de până acum. Potrivit Ministerului Sănătăţii, în spitale se aflau joi 19.114 pacienţii cu COVID-19, iar 1.615 erau conectaţi la ventilatoare. Majoritatea magazinelor din mall-uri, teatrele, muzeele, galeriile şi sălile de cinema se vor închide de sâmbătă.
