A San Francisco woman was seriously injured after a hit-and-run driver struck her Monday evening, hurling her underneath the autonomous Cruise vehicle. Police responded around 9:30 p.m. to a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Fifth and Market Streets, San Francisco police told CNBC. The force of the impact hurled the pedestrian in front of a Cruise vehicle, which applied the brakes "aggressively" and remained in place at the request of police, a Cruise spokesperson and San Francisco police said. The Cruise vehicle did not have a passenger in it. CNBC reviewed footage from the incident, which shows both the Cruise vehicle and the hit-and-run car driving along Fifth Street.

University of Idaho students are leaving town after the shocking off-campus killings of four classmates. Latah County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Mikolajczyk told the Idaho Statesman people were "getting out of Dodge." Police stressed that "there is no imminent threat to the community," but no suspects are in custody. Many people in the Idaho town of Moscow, where the college is located, are "getting out of Dodge" after the Sunday off-campus massacre, Latah County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Mikolajczyk told the Idaho Statesman in a report published on Wednesday. The Moscow Police Department recognized the community's safety concerns on Tuesday, saying, "We hear you, and we understand your fears."

The school had been "reviewing a potential hazing issue" when the Office of Student Affairs "heard from a student that Mr. Jones made a comment to him about possessing a gun," the university said in a statement Tuesday. "The reporting party did not see Mr. Jones in possession of a gun," the statement said. As the probe moved forward, it was learned that "Mr. Jones previously had been convicted of a misdemeanor for a concealed weapons violation in 2021," the school said. But officials said they realized only after Sunday’s shooting that the report of his conviction was never relayed to the University Judiciary Committee. Jones had a difficult upbringing at home and was bullied at school, Logan said.
