A SpaceX capsule carrying four private citizens splashed down off the coast of Florida before dawn 3:36 a.m. The five-day Polaris Dawn flight marked the fifth private mission for SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule. This meant that all four members of the Polaris Dawn mission wore spacesuits during the spacewalk, and the entire capsule was depressurized to vacuum conditions. He was part of the first all-civilian SpaceX mission to orbit in 2021 and funded the Polaris Dawn mission, his second spaceflight, for an undisclosed sum. SpaceX pulled off its first spacewalk in the early hours of Thursday morning, in a historic first for a company. The marquee event of the private Polaris Dawn mission went smoothly, with two of the crew members — Jared Isaacman and Sarah Gillis — stepping outside of SpaceX's Dragon capsule "Resilience." It's the first time civilians, and not government astronauts, have performed a spacewalk. The spacewalk, otherwise known as an extravehicular activity, or EVA, is seen by SpaceX as a crucial milestone in its goal of sending people to other planets. CNN —Officials at NASA have signed a Space Act Agreement with SpaceX to investigate the benefits and risks of having a private mission provide service to NASA’s nearly 33-year-old Hubble Space Telescope, boosting it to a higher orbit to extend its life, the space agency announced Thursday. Launched in 1990, the space observatory has had several servicing missions during NASA’s space shuttle era, with the last mission carried out in 2009. But the space agency retired the space shuttle in 2011, and no spacecraft has been back since. NASAThe effort to send a private mission to Hubble could be a part of a previously announced, privately funded SpaceX program called Polaris. Zurbuchen added that is all part of what SpaceX and NASA will explore as part of this Space Act Agreement.

Astronauts love fighter jets, and billionaire founder Jared Isaacman is no different. Isaacman, who founded payments company Shift4, is deep into training with his team for the first spaceflight of the Polaris Program, announced earlier this year, in partnership with Elon Musk's SpaceX. Isaacman's crew of four is using fighter jets — including aircraft from his personal fleet — to prepare for flying to orbit on the first mission, called Polaris Dawn. "We can't go to space very often [and there] is a lot of planning that goes into a mission," Isaacman told CNBC's Morgan Brennan at an airfield in Bozeman, Montana. "We want to use as much time leading up to [the launch] for training as possible," Isaacman said, adding that "using fighter aircraft is a great analog" to spaceflight.
