The communities north of Yellowstone National Park that were hurt by a significant flood in June have a new lifeline to the park by way of a 1879 stagecoach line.
That flood, which federal officials described as a once-in-a-1,000-years event, caused the Yellowstone River to overflow and destroy sections of the park’s main highway entrance from the north.
The shut-off of visitors in communities along that route in Park County, Mont., erased most of their summer business.
