Matthew Olyphant never imagined he would be taking his Speedo out of retirement—especially, after a total hip replacement. A four-year member of the University of California, Berkeley’s water polo team, he hobbled away from the sport with arthritic hips after graduating in 1994. Yet he helped his water polo club win the 2021 Masters national title in the 45+ age division two years ago—and five months after hip-replacement surgery.
