CNN —Authorities are investigating after at least two ballot boxes were set on fire Monday morning in the Portland, Oregon, area. Police responded to a call about a fire in Portland about 3:30 a.m. Monday, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement. An “incendiary device” was placed inside the box and security personnel extinguished the fire, officials said. A second ballot box was set on fire early Monday morning at a bus station in nearby Vancouver, Washington, according to the Vancouver Police Department. When officers arrived, they found a “suspicious device” next to the box, which was smoking and on fire, police said.

Postal Service mailbox in Phoenix, Arizona, was set on fire at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time Thursday morning, damaging several ballots and other pieces of mail, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. McDade originally said Thursday that approximately 20 ballots were damaged, but Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes later said that five ballots were affected. McDade said authorities with the fire and police departments are investigating the incident and that the Postal Inspector took possession of the damaged mail. Federal authorities have warned in the lead-up to Election Day that ballots could be intentionally damaged in transit. “I’m deeply troubled by the arson attack on a USPS collection box in Phoenix, which damaged 5 ballots.

The 22-year-old was arrested for assault after punching Suns forward Drew Eubanks before the two teams played on February 14 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. “The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable,” a Suns spokesperson previously told CNN. A man who had $40,000 cash seized by police had to wait almost three years to get it back. Jerry Johnson arrived at Phoenix Airport in August 2020 when detectives took his savings. The nonprofit represented Johnson in his appeal after a trial court ruled that he could not even contest the forfeiture of his money. Johnson, who proved ownership of the money according to the court documents, was not charged with any crime. Insider previously reported that the FBI seized $40,000 a couple held in a deposit box more than two years ago but refused to say why or return their cash.

The incident between The Journal reporter Dion Rabouin and the Phoenix officer occurred in late November, but just became public his week after ABC affiliate KNXV reported on the matter. In a statement, The Journal said that it is “deeply concerned” with how its reporter was treated and has asked the Phoenix Police Department to conduct an investigation. The video shows Rabouin repeatedly identified himself as a reporter for The Journal, but the officer did not appear to care. A representative for Chase told me Thursday that the bank did apologize to Rabouin over the incident. The family of an Arizona man fatally shot by Phoenix police after he threw rocks at their patrol vehicles has filed a notice of claim seeking $85 million. Osman family via KPNXOsman, 34, died at a hospital after two police officers shot him near an intersection in Phoenix. The department said the incident stemmed from Osman hitting police cruisers with rocks. As the patrol vehicles approached the intersection, Osman continued to throw rocks, according to the sergeant. Bower said one of the rocks hit one of the officers in the shin and that both patrol vehicles were damaged, including one which had a broken spotlight.
