At a pit stop outside Manchester, Mr. Hurd said he had no issue with championing another Republican.
But he said he would not support Mr. Trump.
“I’m not going to lie to get a microphone,” Mr. Hurd said, digging into a Philly cheesesteak and salty fries.
Back on the road, Mr. Hurd did not downplay the challenges.
Proving that group of people indeed exists as a coherent base of support will be the ultimate test of his candidacy.
