Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth’s attorney on Sunday confirmed to NBC News that Hegseth, whom President-elect Donald Trump has named as his candidate for defense secretary, paid a woman an undisclosed amount after she accused him of sexual assault. “In 2023, Hegseth paid the complainant as part of a civil confidential settlement agreement and maintains his innocence,” Timothy Parlatore, Hegseth’s attorney, said in a statement. He also denied that the encounter between Hegseth and an unnamed woman, which she alleges happened in 2017, was sexual assault. Parlatore’s statement comes after The Washington Post on Saturday reported that a friend of Hegseth’s accuser sent a memo to the Trump transition team detailing the allegations. Authorities in Monterey investigated the allegation in 2017 and did not file charges against Hegseth.

The number of E. coli cases linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders has risen to 90, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday, up from 75 reported cases last Friday. The slivered onions used on the burgers are the “likely source” of the outbreak, the CDC said. The true number of cases linked to the Quarter Pounders is likely much higher than the 90 reported so far. Thirteen states have reported cases: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. According to McDonald’s, 900 restaurants across 12 states received the onions from Taylor Farms.

Megan Thee Stallion is suing commentator Milagro Gramz, accusing her of being a “mouthpiece,” “puppet” and “paid surrogate” for rapper Tory Lanez during and after his high-profile criminal trial. In a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Florida on Wednesday, attorneys for Megan Thee Stallion accuse Milagro Gramz of “churning out falsehoods” about Lanez while the hip-hop superstar was on trial in 2022 and 2023. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, in the foot and sentenced to 10 years in prison. She is also seeking damages from Cooper “in an appropriate amount” for the emotional distress and false light counts. The lawsuit alleged that Cooper spread false information that the gun Peterson used to shoot Pete had gone missing as recently as this week.

The Food and Drug Administration is investigating whether Taylor Farms, a supplier for McDonald’s, is the possible source of the E. coli outbreak linked to Quarter Pounder hamburgers, which has killed at least one person and sickened nearly 50 others. Until now, it wasn't clear where the McDonald’s onions were sourced from — neither the restaurant chain nor public health officials had said publicly where the onions were grown or whether they were sent to other restaurants. A McDonald's spokesperson said Wednesday that the raw onions were sourced from a single supplier and processed at a single facility. A spokesperson for Taylor Farms did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to the company's website, Taylor Farms is a California-based producer of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables.

CNN —Ex-FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page reached settlements with the Justice Department that will see the government paying out a total of $2 million in their lawsuits over the department’s 2018 release of their text messages. Former agent Strzok will get $1.2 million and Page, who was an FBI lawyer, will get $800,000, according to settlement agreements obtained by CNN. The Justice Department declined to comment on the matter. Page, who had also briefly served on Mueller’s team, resigned from her role as a lawyer for the FBI after the messages were discovered. The release of the messages became political fodder for Donald Trump to oppose the Russia investigation during his presidency.
