CNN —A massive explosion on Tuesday evening near Chad’s capital city of N’Djamena killed at least nine and injured 46 others, according to a statement from its foreign minister. Video authenticated and geolocated to the international airport in N’Djamena shows a massive fireball and sparks rising in the night sky. Satellite imagery from Maxar Technologies shows that 17 structures at the ammo depot were destroyed. In the satellite image, the structures destroyed in the explosion were spread out, and in two groups that were at opposite ends of the complex. Chad’s president Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno said that an investigation will be conducted into the cause of the fire at the ammunition depot.

CNN —Israeli troops have used a medieval-style catapult to toss fireballs across the border into Lebanon, as fighting ramps up between Israel and the Iran-backed Islamist group Hezbollah. The trebuchet, a rotating arm with a sling attached to launch a projectile, has rarely been used since the 16th century. Kan said the trebuchet was probably used to burn shrubbery, making it easier for Israeli forces to identify militants attempting to reach the border. More than 53,000 Israelis have been evacuated from the north since hostilities began in October, the IDF told CNN. New York CNN —The messaging app Telegram has restricted access to several channels closely associated with or operated by Hamas, as the militant group’s war with Israel rages on. The restrictions mark a significant clampdown on a major source of pro-Hamas propaganda since the Israel-Hamas war began, one that Telegram’s error messages suggest may be driven by the app store operators’ policies. Other popular Telegram channels that have expressed support for Hamas have also been restricted, according to CNN’s analysis.
