CNN —The National Basketball Association is investigating reports that Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid “shoved” a columnist following the team’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. A visibly angry Embiid confronted Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes as reporters entered the Sixers locker room, according to the Associated Press. Embiid reportedly continued mouthing at Hayes, who eventually offered an apology to the 76ers center. CNN —Dwyane Wade’s status as a Miami Heat legend was further cemented on Sunday as the franchise unveiled an eight-foot statue of the three-time NBA champion. The 42-year-old played 16 seasons in the NBA and was selected as an All-Star 13 times before retiring in 2019. One comment on an Instagram video of the unveiling said that the statue better resembled Laurence Fishburne as ’Morpheus’ from the movie ‘The Matrix’ than Wade. Fans criticized the likeness of the statue although Wade himself didn't seem too bothered and was relishing the moment. Tyrese Haliburton led the way for the Pacers with 22 points but still looks a long way off last season’s form.

Leonard has not practiced with or played in any games for the Clippers during the preseason. Since then, his right knee has been a recurring issue. Superstar center Joel Embiid has signed a three-year, approximately $192.9 million extension with the team that runs through the 2028-29 season, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported Friday morning. The seven-time All-Star is set to make approximately $51.4 million in the 2024-25 season and $55.2 million in 2025-26, according to Spotrac. The Sixers later officially announced that Embiid signed a “multi-year” extension. While he returned late in the regular season, Embiid had semi-regular injury scares and also dealt with Bell’s palsy during the playoffs. Taking his total career earnings to $514.8 million, Embiid would become the fifth member of the NBA’s $500M club, joining LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and 76ers teammate Paul George.
