New York CNN —Hurricane Milton passed through Florida days ago, but the devastating storm is still causing chaos at gas stations. Hundreds of gas stations in Florida still don’t have gas, including roughly half of the stations in the hard-hit Tampa area. Meanwhile, the number of gas stations without gas has fallen sharply. This represents a significant improvement, although it still means that more than 1,300 Florida gas stations remain dry five days after Hurricane Milton made landfall. Florida gas stations are out of fuel following the storm that made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in the Siesta Key area of Florida, causing damage and flooding throughout Central Florida.

Parts of western and central Florida continue to face the risk of significant flooding in creeks and rivers continue to rise. In a “major” flood stage, the agency expects “extensive inundation of structures and roads,” with the possible need to evacuate people and transfer property to higher elevations. Water levels are expected to continue rising in the coming days, posing a major flood risk in low-lying parts of the county, officials said. CNN —An accused MS-13 gang member has been arrested in Holiday, Florida, and charged in what the sheriff described as a “demonic” murder of an Uber Eats delivery driver whose remains were found dismembered at the suspect’s home last week, according to investigators. Investigators believe Solis tried to rob the driver and ultimately killed him, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The sheriff said Solis is affiliated with MS-13, a violent criminal gang with international ties to drug and human trafficking. When investigators opened the trash bags at the home on Friday, they found what appeared to be human remains in two of the bags, the complaint said. There is no known connection between the suspect and victim, Nocco said.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A woman who was in bed with her two young children was fatally shot early Tuesday during a home invasion that a Florida sheriff described as “targeted” hit. The knock awakened a woman who was sleeping on the couch in a front room, the sheriff said. As she got up, a masked man kicked the door in and pointed a gun at her, Nocco said. The man continued on to a bedroom and flipped the light switch, Nocco said. He said that mental health counselors are working with the two children and the woman.
