CNN —Jannik Sinner clinched his seventh title of the season with a straight sets victory over Novak Djokovic in the final of the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. 1 spot with his semifinal win over Tomas Machac, defeated Djokovic 7-6 (4) 6-3 to pick up the fourth Masters 1000 title of his career and third of 2024. “It was a very tough match, obviously, playing against Novak is one of the toughest challenges we have,” Sinner said after the match, per the ATP. Sunday’s defeat was the first of Djokovic’s career in the final of the Shanghai Masters, having previously held a perfect 4-0 record. Sinner is the first player to beat Djokovic three times in a row since 2013.

CNN —Carlos Alcaraz suffered defeat on his ATP Finals debut on Monday, as Alexander Zverev battled back from a set down to win 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 6-4. “It’s the only tournament where a loss does not knock you out,” Alcaraz said, per the ATP. At the end of the second set and the start of the third, I hit three or four shots out straight away. “I watch Novak, for example, and he doesn’t give anything away straight away. My consistency was really lacking against Zverev.”Alcaraz hadn’t played since that shock defeat Safiullin on October 31 after being forced to withdraw from an ATP tournament in Basel with foot and back injuries.

PARIS (AP) — Top-ranked Novak Djokovic won a record-extending seventh title at the Paris Masters on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the final. Djokovic, who had been pushed to three sets in his three previous matches, enjoyed a comfortable afternoon under the roof of the Palais Omnisports. Dimitrov was second-best in all areas and the result improved Djokovic's record against Dimitrov to 12-1. Djokovic was untouchable on his serve and did not face a single break point as he claimed a 40th Masters 1000 title. Djokovic did not slow down and won his next serve at love to open a 4-2 lead.
