Protesters demonstrate outside the Labour Party conference venue in Liverpool against the withdrawal of the winter fuel allowance, on September 23, 2024. “It has felt a bit blunt,” a Labour Member of Parliament admitted after Starmer’s speech Tuesday, summing up the sentiment across much of conference. Unfortunately, the realities of governing are beginning to bite the Labour Party – and it is likely he will need to show some returns far sooner. Starmer’s speech was was light on fresh content but a heckler was calmly removed and the key messages were confidently delivered. But a premiership can only survive on doom and gloom for so long, and patience is already wearing thin among much of the wider party.

CNN —For much of this season, Liverpool fans had spoken about sending Jürgen Klopp into the sunset with a historic quadruple of trophies. On Wednesday, Liverpool was stunned 2-0 by struggling local rival Everton in the final Merseyside derby of Klopp’s reign, all but ending the team’s hopes of winning a second Premier League title during the German’s tenure. The defeat leaves Liverpool in second place, three points behind Arsenal and one ahead of Manchester City, though Pep Guardiola’s side now has two games in hand. Klopp will now likely end his final season in charge with just the League Cup. In the second half, the emotions, we’re in a rush, not really clear enough and then we concede the second goal with a routine they’ve done all season.

As long as Trump Media & Technology Group’s share price doesn’t spectacularly implode before Tuesday’s closing bell, Trump is on track to receive another 36 million shares as the owner of Truth Social. Even though Trump Media is losing money and Truth Social is very tiny, those new shares Trump is in line to receive would be valued at about $1.3 billion at current prices. Of course, Trump Media’s share price is subject to extreme volatility, meaning the value of this stake can swing wildly. ‘Grossly overvalued’Even though Trump Media’s share price has retreated since spiking to $66 last month, experts warn it remains overvalued based on fundamental metrics. Ritter, who has been studying IPOs for four decades, expects Trump Media’s share price to eventually plunge to just $1 or $2 per share.

CNN —As bad days at the office go, it’s unlikely Sparta Prague will have endured many worse than on Thursday. Things did get slightly better for Sparta – albeit very briefly – as Veljko Birmančević reduced the aggregate deficit to seven goals when he scored just before half-time to make it 4-1 on the night. “We were really, really after them, at them – however you want to call it – and scored wonderful goals. “A long time in my life, I obviously worked for a smaller club – not that Sparta are a small club – but I worked in Germany for a smaller club with Mainz. You can win games, but you need a little bit of help from the opponent – we didn’t give any help [tonight].

CNN —Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has welcomed British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe’s investment into the club, saying that the new co-owner can restore the European powerhouse to its glory years. Yorke concedes, however, that for the time being the Red Devils will not be able to compete for the English Premier League title. Yorke would go on to win a further two Premier Leagues with the Red Devils before leaving the club in the summer of 2002. “We really should be in the [Premier League] top four relatively comfortably, and it hasn’t been that easy a ride for us. “I think Alan Shearer is still the current [record] holder in the Premier League and was a real goal machine.

With the English Premier League club vying to win an historic quadruple this season, and with injuries ravaging the senior squad, manager Jurgen Klopp has turned to the club’s famed academy for help. And while Danns and Koumas got on the scoresheet, 19-year-old Bobby Clark produced an assist for the latter. While there is no more recent data on royal sites specifically, in 2022 Visit Britain found that history and heritage were the biggest pull factors for tourists. Sea level rise will flood huge swaths of the country and submerge billions of dollars’ worth of land, according to a new report. The analysis indicates that sea level rise could reduce the value of that private land by more than $108 billion by the end of the century. Risk isn’t evenly distributedClimate Central found that, unsurprisingly, the effects of sea level rise aren’t evenly distributed across the U.S. In Galveston County, Texas, more than 4,200 buildings that are currently above sea level will be at least partially underwater. While sea level rise is one of the major impacts of the climate crisis, it’s not the only one.
