Nonetheless, analysts remain skeptical about when solid-state batteries will actually make it to market. During the match, a banner “bearing a political message was displayed and anti-Semitic gestures were made,” Paris 2024 said in a statement. The statement from the Olympics organizers did not clarify what these gestures were. According to stills by multiple photo agencies, a banner reading “Genocide Olympics” was displayed, with some spectators holding up Palestinian flags during the game. We would like to remind everyone that the Games are a time for harmony and tolerance,” the statement continued.

Police vans led the way, dozens of them filled with squads of French riot police and surrounded by a phalanx of officers on motorcycles. Then came more vans, more police outriders, more sirens — a stunning show of force with one task: to protect the first Israeli participants to take the field of play in the Paris Games. The security of Israel’s team at the Olympics — any Olympics — has been a critical issue since the killing of 11 athletes and coaches at the Munich Games in 1972. Her husband, Charles Rogers, said she died in a hospital from complications of two recent heart attacks. In 1968, after leaving IBM, Ms. Conway was among the earliest Americans to undergo gender reassignment surgery. But she kept it a secret, living in what she called “stealth” mode for 31 years out of fear of career reprisals and concern for her physical safety. She rebuilt her career from scratch, eventually landing at the fabled Xerox PARC laboratory, where she again made important contributions in her field. After she publicly disclosed her transition in 1999, she became a prominent transgender activist.
