It has reignited the savior complex of Silicon Valley's biggest personalities too. AdvertisementThough some questions are being asked about how much of a case Musk has here, the whole saga has offered plenty of incentive to Silicon Valley's more opinionated leaders to moralize on the future of AI. The open option — in theory at least — champions AI models that are transparent about how they're trained and collectively developed by a global community of developers. (2) Big companies, small companies, independent developers, and open source communities should be free to pursue AI. But which side of the battle the rest of Silicon Valley's AI leaders fall on will be watched just as closely.

Some of these bots have been helpful because they send users to sources of original content online. The most active one is probably Googlebot, which automatically collects web information so Google can later rank and serve it up in Search results. It's called GPTbot and it's being used to scrape and collect online content for AI model training. So what is Clarke's advice for other online content creators when it comes to GPTbot? What is the incentive that OpenAI offers to have these content creators allow GPTbot to crawl and scrape their sites?

It's not just you: new research suggests ChatGPT's AI model really is getting dumber. There's been a growing feeling for a while now that the AI model behind ChatGPT is, frankly, getting dumber. No one can quite figure out why GPT-4 is changingWhat the research doesn't seem to identify is why this performance drop has happened. As the AI model underlying a more advanced version of ChatGPT, one that paying subscribers get access to, that's a bit of a problem for OpenAI. That said, it's hard to ignore the questions of quality surrounding GPT-4 when a whole community of AI devotees is asking them.

OpenAI hasn't trained its AI large-language models such as GPT with paying customer data "for a while," CEO Sam Altman told CNBC on Friday. "Customers clearly want us not to train on their data, so we've changed our plans: We will not do that," Altman told CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin. "We don't train on any API data at all, we haven't for a while," Altman told CNBC. OpenAI's business customers, which include Microsoft , Salesforce and Snapchat , are more likely to take advantage of OpenAI's API capabilities. The Guild had been pushing for limitations on the use of OpenAI's ChatGPT for script generating or rewriting.
A top Google researcher resigned after warning execs that Bard was trained off ChatGPT, per The Information. A Google spokesperson told The Verge that Bard is not trained on data from ChatGPT. The researcher is one of many Google employees to leave the company and join OpenAI. One person told The Information that Google stopped using the data to train Bard after Devlin warned executives about the issue. The Information reported that Alphabet's two AI teams, DeepMind and Google Brain, have joined forces to better compete with OpenAI.
March 29 (Reuters) - Elon Musk and a group of artificial intelligence experts and industry executives are calling for a six-month pause in developing systems more powerful than OpenAI's newly launched GPT-4, in an open letter citing potential risks to society and humanity. "Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable," the letter said. The letter detailed potential risks to society and civilization by human-competitive AI systems in the form of economic and political disruptions, and called on developers to work with policymakers on governance and regulatory authorities. Rather than pause research, she said, AI researchers should be subjected to greater transparency requirements. "If you do AI research, you should be very transparent about how you do it."
