Carbon-plated supershoes from various brands are now worn by your average runners chasing personal records at major marathons around the world. Since the Vaporfly’s debut in 2016, runners have shattered world records, including achieving a sub-two-hour marathon. The U.S. track and field star won the gold medal that has long eluded her by finishing first in the 200-meter with a time of 21.83 on Tuesday at the Paris Olympics. MyKayla Skinner posted a video to Instagram on Tuesday calling on Simone Biles to stop her 11.8 million followers from “cyberbullying” her after Biles appeared to clapback at comments by Skinner. “To Simone, I am asking you directly and publicly to please put a stop to this," Skinner said in Tuesday's video. A few days after her comments in June, Skinner posted an apology on social media. After Biles' Instagram post last week, Skinner reportedly blocked the 11-time Olympic medalist on social media, according to an Instagram story posted by Chiles and a post on X by Biles. The edited photo implied that Skinner should have made the 2016 U.S. Olympic team over Douglas, who became the first Black Olympic all-around champion in 2012.

His time of 9.784 seconds in the men’s 100-meter dash was his personal best and gave the United States its first gold in 20 years. PARIS — Since qualifying for the Olympics in 2021 only to be barred from competing, Sha’Carri Richardson had waited three years for the second chance that arrived Saturday night. Yet right from the gun, Richardson was forced to play catch-up to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who left no doubt on her way to a gold medal in her Olympic debut in 10.72 seconds. It was a repeat of the semifinal earlier Saturday night when Alfred also beat Richardson convincingly. In Paris, Richardson planned to leave that turbulent period like the seven other racers in the Olympic final — behind her. Instead, it was Alfred who was never seriously challenged on her way to gold, screaming in joy as she crossed the finish line.

But after winning her 10th Olympic medal in Saturday's vault final, Biles said for the first time that the Los Angeles Games in 2028 could be in her future. Her appearance in Paris makes her the oldest U.S. Olympic gymnast in 72 years. Before Paris, Biles was already the most decorated gymnast in history from any country including world medals in the tally, with 37 world and Olympic medals combined. “I think it was the worst pressure you could ever be put under,” British former sprinter Allan Wells, who won 100m gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, told CNN Sport. “You run through it in your head thousands of times – the start, the gun going off,” Wells added. “It was the worst feeling you could ever have but still be in control of what you were hoping to achieve,” said Wells, one of only three British sprinters to win 100m gold at the Olympics. The legendary Bolt, winner of three consecutive 100m gold medal between 2008 and 2016, said that he would try not to overthink things. Bolt was famously relaxed on the start line, fist-bumping race officials and playing up to the crowd with gestures and poses.
