President Joe Biden on Tuesday sought to reassure the public on drones in East Coast states, saying there was nothing alarming about the increased reports of unmanned aircraft sightings. “Nothing nefarious, apparently," Biden told reporters at the White House. Still, the numerous sightings have sparked demands for more information across the political spectrum, including President-elect Donald Trump and Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York and members of Congress amid conspiracy theories and rising public concern tied to the sightings. Obtained by NBC NewsMembers of the House Intelligence Committee received a closed-door briefing Tuesday afternoon on the drone sightings from intelligence officials.

Floating fish farms used to be a common sight along Singapore's coast. But now, their numbers are dwindling: As of October, there were 74 sea-based fish farms left, down from 98 in 2023. Much like street peddlers and traditional villages, the floating fish farms are a part of Singapore's cultural and economic identity that is rapidly disappearing as the city-state evolves past its fishing village origins. Many locals still refer to these floating fish farms as "kelongs," even though they're not quite the same thing, Yeo said. He hopes to have a high-tech fish farm one day — ideally on land, where conditions are less unpredictable.

Newly-elected members of the U.S. Congress pose for a photo on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, U.S., November 15, 2024. Congress is set to vote in the coming days on legislation restricting U.S. investments in China as part of a bill to fund government operations through mid-March, lawmakers said late on Tuesday. In October, the Treasury finalized rules effective Jan. 2 that will limit U.S. investments in artificial intelligence and other technology sectors in China that could threaten U.S. national security. The bill expands on those restrictions and also includes other provisions aimed at concerns about China, including a requirement to study national security risks posed by Chinese-made consumer routers and modems and mandate reviews of Chinese real estate purchases near additional national security sensitive sites. The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately comment.

Funding expires at the end of Friday, when the House and Senate are hoping to adjourn for the Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year holidays. And the Democratic-run Senate would need unanimous agreement to skip procedural hurdles and pass it in time. The legislation would throw a messy new shutdown deadline into President-elect Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office. Government funding is subject to the Senate’s 60-vote threshold, so they would still need Democratic support to pass it. For that reason, some Republicans preferred to finish the job earlier and take the current fiscal year’s funding task off Trump’s plate.

Many women are surprised by how much pain they experience during a medication abortion, a study published Tuesday in the journal BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health found. In the study, researchers looked at survey responses from about 1,600 women in the U.K. who had undergone a medication abortion and then answered questions about the experience. Women are often told to expect cramping akin to strong menstrual cramps during a medication abortion, both in the U.K. and in the U.S. “It’s important to be realistic about what women experience during medical abortion in order to provide meaningful patient-centred care.”Medication abortions involve taking two pills. Medication abortion will not work for an ectopic pregnancy, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The stock prices of America’s largest health insurance providers — including Aetna owner CVS Health, Cigna and Humana — have also tumbled recently. As of Tuesday’s closing bell, the Dow had fallen 1,564 points since Dec. 4, with UnitedHealth Group accounting for 804 of those points. UnitedHealth Group is also the worst performer in the 30-stock index this month, with losses more than double those of the second-worst performer, Goldman Sachs. Once again, CVS, UnitedHealth Group, Cigna and Humana all rank as the worst performers, with double-digit losses of 18% to 25%. Those businesses have drawn widespread criticism in part because many of the biggest insurance providers, including UnitedHealth Group, Cigna and CVS, also own some of the largest such companies.

Walmart has started giving store-level associates body cameras to wear as part of a pilot program at some of its U.S. locations, CNBC has learned. They blame the shop worker.”However, it’s unclear whether body cameras actually help to deescalate conflict. She said body cameras could be part of the solution but cameras alone are “no substitute” for proper training. Earlier this year, the off-price giant said it had started using body cameras in its stores, which include its TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and HomeGoods banners. Body cameras are just one of the many ways that we work to support a safe store environment.

Two men have been charged in Boston federal court in connection with a fatal drone strike in Jordan that killed three U.S. service members and injured dozens earlier this year. Abedini was further charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization — the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The men allegedly conspired to evade U.S. sanctions and supply the Iranian government with a type of drone navigation technology used in the Jan. 28 drone attack at the Tower 22 base in Jordan, a U.S. military outpost, prosecutors said. The drone, launched by IRGC-backed militants, made impact near a shelter where some troops were sleeping and killed three U.S. service members. The two men allegedly conspired to procure goods and technology from Sadeghi’s place of work and exported them and supplied them to Iran to Abedini’s Iranian company SDRA.

CLEVELAND — Fresh off a comfortable re-election victory in 2018, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, considered running for president on a populist message aimed at the many working-class Midwest voters who had fled the Democratic Party in favor of Donald Trump. WASHINGTON — As public concern has escalated over drones flying in the skies above New Jersey and other East Coast states, the White House wants Congress to pass legislation that would give greater authority to the federal, state and local governments to address drones that fly in U.S. airspace. “We do need better authorities to deal with that growing ecosystem of drones in U.S. airspace," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday in an interview on NBC's "TODAY" show. Gaps exist in federal, state and local government authorities to deal with drones, Kirby said. “We know that there’s no national security threat. The bill was proposed last year by Sen.
