"The word 'value' has received a lot of airtime in the past few months," Josh Kobza, the CEO of Burger King parent company Restaurant Brands International , said on Thursday. Daniel Acker | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesCompanies aren't just thinking about offering value for customers — they're also thinking about shareholder value. For example, Burger King was one of the first chains to unveil a $5 value meal this summer. When its rivals followed suit with their own $5 discount deals, the Restaurant Brands chain didn't see any clear impact to its business. "There are actually some positives to the focus on value across the industry," Restaurant Brands' Kobza told CNBC.

You might expect to see litter, trash or even roadkill on the side of a highway. But a 3,600-pound hot dog? Just after 11 a.m. Monday, employees of Oscar Mayer were driving one of the company’s promotional Wienermobiles on an Illinois highway when the driver hit another car, lost control, overcorrected and rolled the vehicle on its side, the Illinois State Police said. Video taken after the collision showed two people — “hotdoggers,” as the company calls them — climbing out of the passenger-side door and hopping down to safety. Later, a tow truck crane arrived, scooped up the Wienermobile and carried it away.

After the New York Times acquired Wordle from its creator, software engineer Josh Wardle, in January 2022, its player base grew to tens of millions. The New York Times assigned a dedicated editor for Wordle, Tracy Bennett, in November 2022. “You’re even going to be able to play Wordles that predate the New York Times acquisition, which is really fun,” Knight told CNN. What Wordle has done for the New York TimesAside from the editorial strategy, Wordle fits perfectly into the Times’ business plans. For Donna Cona, who has played it since before the Times acquisition, Wordle has become her go-to thing each morning.

Investors are celebrating a year of easy-to-obtain interest income, but the Tax Man will want his slice this spring. Institutions report interest income of $10 or more to their customers and the Internal Revenue Service on Form 1099-INT . For instance, you can be on the hook for an accuracy-related penalty of 20% of the underpayment of the tax. Interest income from these I bonds is subject to federal income tax, but investors don't receive it until they redeem the bond or it matures. "It might be worth it to buy the MLP and pay the tax," Kearns said.

In frigid temperatures, it can take a half hour to warm the battery so it's ready to charge, Westlake said. Bansal, who has had her Tesla for only a week, didn't know about preconditioning the car before charging, but she does now. So she told the car she was going to the charging station and it was ready by the time she arrived and plugged in. The car, she said, will tell you where charging stations are and how much range you have left. Burney said she loses roughly 15% to 20% of her battery range in cold weather, but it gets dramatically worse in cold snaps like the one this week.

The sale effort comes as Millennium Trust's business is buoyed by higher interest rates adopted by the U.S. Federal Reserve to fight inflation. Credit ratings agency S&P Global Inc said last month the higher rates boost the revenue Millennium Trust receives from allowing customers to borrow against their retirement accounts. Millennium Trust will also entertain the sale of a minority stake to a private equity firm, should an outright sale not be feasible, the sources said. Millennium Trust generates north of $500 million in 12-month earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), according to the sources. Raymond James, Parthenon and Millennium Trust did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
