Copernicus is a set of six families of Sentinel satellites designed to read the planet's "vital signs" including carbon dioxide. But following Thursday's agreement, Director General Josef Aschbacher said the deal would allow UK scientists and industry to benefit fully from one of Europe's leading space programmes. The agreement is a boost for satellite manufacturers including Europe's Airbus (AIR.PA), France' Thales (TCFP.PA) and Germany's OHB (OHBG.DE) that had been awarded contracts to build the new set of satellites subject in part to an EU funding deal.

KKR is planning a voluntary public tender offer for all outstanding shares at a price of 44 euros ($48.34), according to OHB. In total, KKR is putting up to 338 million euros into OHB with the takeover bid, a capital increase of 10% and a capital injection for the OHB space subsidiary Rocket Factory. OHB posted a first half pre-tax profit of 19.6 million euros and said its order backlog remained at a high level of 1.8 billion euros.

Tyson Foods — Shares of the food processing company fell more than 7% after Tyson's fiscal third-quarter report missed estimates on the top and bottom lines. Tyson generated 15 cents in adjusted earnings per share on $13.14 billion of revenue. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting 26 cents per share on $13.59 billion of revenue. Sovos Brands — Shares of Rao's parent Sovos Brands' popped 25% in premarket trading after food giant Campbell Soup said Monday it would acquire the pasta sauce maker for $2.33 billion. Campbell will pay $23 per share for the company, which is 27.6% higher than the Sovos Brands' last closing price.

Agenţia Spaţială Europeană (ESA) a încheiat vineri trei contracte de sateliţi în vederea extinderii programului său Copernicus de observare a Pământului cu Airbus Defense and Space pentru misiunea LSTM şi cu Thales Alenia Space (TAS) pentru misiunile CIMR şi CHIME, contra unei sume totale de peste 1,3 miliarde de euro, informează AFP, citează Agerpres. Cele trei misiuni aparţin programului Copernicus, în cadrul căruia şapte sateliţi Sentinel sunt deja pe orbită şi furnizează informaţii utilizate atât pentru monitorizarea schimbărilor climatice şi a poluării, precum şi pentru evaluarea pagubelor produse de catastrofe naturale. Alte două misiuni Sentinel, CO2M şi Cristal, sunt deja în desfăşurare, iar a şasea, ROSE-L, va demara în curând. CHIME (Sentinel 10) va furniza observaţii hiper-spectrale, utile pentru supravegherea solului şi a vegetaţiei. Scopul lor este de a contribui la definirea politicilor europene de gestionare a resurselor naturale, dar şi la dezvoltarea ofertelor de servicii asociate siguranţei alimentare, agriculturii şi materiilor prime.
