Serge Raoul, an Alsatian-born former filmmaker who with his brother, Guy, a classically trained chef, founded Raoul’s, a clubby French bistro and SoHo canteen in Lower Manhattan that drew generations of artists, rock stars, writers, models, machers and movie people — along with those who yearned to be near them — died on March 8 at his home in Nyack, N.Y. The cause was a glioblastoma, said his son, Karim Raoul. Serge was on hiatus from making documentaries and Guy had been working as a chef uptown when Serge set out to find him a restaurant. A friend thought Luizzi’s, a cozy and well-worn spaghetti and meatballs joint on Prince Street between Sullivan and Thompson, might be for sale. As it turned out, the owners, Ida and Tom Luizzi, were happy to make a deal if it included the provisions that Mr. Luizzi could drop in every day and that Inky the cat could stay.

Now the couple are thinking about going back on the housing market with DZA. Will the prospective buildings impose a weight limit, as they often do? Will Great Danes be on a list of forbidden breeds, as they frequently are? Painting large breeds with broad strokes reinforces erroneous beliefs, such as that greyhounds need constant exercise, when, in fact, many are couch potatoes, or that pit bulls are natural born killers. “It’s almost like you’re an outcast if you have a large dog,” said Ina Obernesser, a veterinarian in Nyack, N.Y., referring to weight limits as meager as 20 pounds.

Tired after eating? Here’s why, and how to fix it

The tendency to get tired after eating isn’t inherently suggestive of something amiss. If you had a meal high in fat — such as fried foods or pizza — that could make you feel tired. “That can really be an energy zapper.”Just like high-sugar foods, sugary drinks can also make you feel tired once the crash hits, Stefanski said. Choosing more balanced meals and snacks can help you feel less tired after eating, experts said. The test measures average blood sugar levels and shows how much glucose is attached to hemoglobin in red blood cells, Stefanski said.

Massive fires burning in remote areas – like some of those currently burning in northwestern Quebec – are often too out of control to do anything about. Jim Watson/AFP/Getty Images Smoke and haze is seen from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, June 27. Another issue is the increase in the wildfires are caused by climate change, and are simultaneously making climate change worse.

Palisades CenterDanni SantanaPalisades Center in West Nyack, New York, opened in March 1998. The four-level shopping mall has 225 stores and 16 sit-down restaurants inside. Palisades Center offers 2 million square feet of leasable store space and is owned by EklecCo NewCo LLC, a division of Pyramid Management Group. Mortgage lender Wilmington Trust is now looking to foreclose on Palisades after EklecCo failed to pay back a $418.5 million loan from 2016 in full, Patch reported last month. Wilmington Trust has filed suit against Pyramid asking the New York Supreme Court to have mall tenants pay rent to the firm directly until Palisades Center is put up for sale.
Given the ongoing uncertainty, turning to stock market experts to pick attractive stocks for the long term could be a good decision. Allegro expects to flourish in these two key markets and to deliver low-double-digit percentage revenue growth from fiscal 2023 to 2028. CrowdStrike's adjusted earnings per share for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023 (ended Jan. 31) increased 57%, fueled by revenue growth of 48%. The company's adjusted EPS grew 8% and came ahead of Wall Street's expectations, while revenue growth of 18% fell short of estimates. Nonetheless, Oracle is optimistic about the solid potential of its cloud business, which delivered 45% revenue growth in the fiscal third quarter.
Kid Dynamite died in a car accident in Germany in 1963, leaving behind two children, including a son, Herman. Most of the more notable heirlooms, such as the mouthpiece to Kid Dynamite’s saxophone, Herman said, were donated by the family to the Amsterdam Museum. But what persists most potently of Kid Dynamite is his music. “It starts with a very long tone on the sax.”Kid Dynamite at the Sheherazade jazz club in Amsterdam in 1957. But now I recognize that intro, that long tone, as the departure of that boat.”— Sejla Rizvic
NATHAN HEINRICH, 41 years old, feels totally disconnected from his younger sister. In fact, the writer and designer from West Nyack, N.Y, says they’re in touch plenty. The problem: This year, she suddenly started communicating exclusively through recorded voice messages, colloquially called voice notes or voice memos, a feature that’s been available on Apple ’s iMessage since June 2014. His sister, Hilary Heinrich, a busy 32-year-old teacher in San Luis Obispo, Calif., says the technology nicely combines aspects of both phone calls and texts. Mr. Heinrich, however, finds that having to respond to her voice notes in kind makes him feel like a trucker on a CB radio.
