The striking 3D reconstruction of Zosia, as locals nicknamed her, sheds light on the human found in the grisly grave. Archaeologist Dariusz Poliński, who led the team that unearthed Zosia’s remains, said it was a “mind-blowing” moment when he saw the reconstruction by Swedish forensic artist Oscar Nilsson for the first time. During the course of the 17th century, Poland and Sweden fought a series of wars, so Zosia could have been an outsider within her community. “Maybe because of some misfortune or the death of somebody else, they decided to open the grave,” Poliński suggested. A year after discovering Zosia’s grave, the same team found a child’s remains buried in an unusual way.

Nicolaus Copernicus University / Oscar Nilsson via ReutersZosia, as she was named by locals, was found in 2022 by a team of archaeologists from Torun’s Nicolaus Copernicus University. The sickle, the padlock and certain types of wood found at the grave site were all believed at the time to hold magical properties protecting against vampires, according to the Nicolaus Copernicus team. Among the other bodies found at the site was a “vampire” child, buried face down and similarly padlocked at the foot. “It’s emotional to watch a face coming back from the dead, especially when you know the story about this young girl,” Nilsson says. Nilsson said he wanted to bring Zosia back “as a human, and not as this monster that she is buried as.”

Nothing in this world is certain except death and taxes, and Molly Nilsson writes songs about both. The Swedish-born singer began her career making hazy synth-pop tracks, with titles like “More Certain Than Death” and “I Hope You Die,” that suggested love and mortality were always intertwined. But, over the past decade, politics has increasingly shaded her work: A Nilsson record might be the only place where references to late capitalism and the trickle-down economy feel perfectly at home in a pop song. Over her 16-year career, Nilsson, 39, has established a cult following while working outside the music industry’s norms. For years, she pressed her own records and hawked them around record stores herself.

"Like the companies, the trade union movement is global in the fight to protect workers," 3F Chair Jan Villadsen said in a statement, adding that Sweden's IF Metall union had asked 3F to help. The strike by Danish dockworkers and lorry drivers only affects cars that are meant for the Swedish market, the union said. Swedish labour groups have been taking industrial action against Tesla since October in a bid to force the car manufacturer to sign collective bargaining agreements with mechanics.

REUTERS/Marie Mannes/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSTOCKHOLM, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Debt-laden Swedish property group SBB (SBBb.ST) reported a widening of its pre-tax loss in the third quarter on Monday. The landlord, which owns properties across Sweden including hospitals and care homes, reported a pre-tax loss of 3.13 billion Swedish crowns ($287 million) for continuing operations, compared to a loss of a revised 2.56 billion a year ago. This was weaker than Carlsquare analyst Bertil Nilsson's expectation of a loss of 2 billion crowns. SBB slashed its property values by 3.52 billion crowns in the quarter, after analysts had warned property values in the sector could continue to see pressure from high interest rates. Its net operating income came in at 0.93 billion crowns, down from revised 1.02 billion a year earlier.

Reinhard and Zarate spotted a bundle of cloth, and lifting it, they found themselves looking into the Ice Maiden’s face. Studies have revealed that Juanita was a healthy girl between 13 and 15 when she died from a blow to the head. Nilsson used tissue depth markers based on the measurements of her skull to envision the proportions of her face, which included high cheekbones. Tissue depth markers and CT scans helped Oscar Nilsson reconstruct the Ice Maiden's face. For the researchers who have spent years studying Juanita, the arduous process to bring her back to life was worth it.

SAS filed for U.S. bankruptcy protection last year as it struggled to slash costs and debt amid strikes by pilots. SAS hopes to raise 9.5 billion Swedish crowns ($863 million) in new equity and convert 20 billion crowns of debt into equity. They could include Sweden's family-owned Wallenberg foundation, which currently holds a 3.4% stake in SAS, or Danish pension funds, he said. Once that is done, SAS can begin proceedings to exit chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which could be late this year or next year, Pedersen said. TT News Agency/Johan Nilsson via REUTERS/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 11 (Reuters) - Scandinavian airline SAS (SAS.ST), battling to emerge from bankruptcy protection, said on Monday it was extending the deadline for final bids for its equity fundraising by a week to Sept. 25 at the request of bidders. SAS said in May the U.S. court had approved a revised plan to raise equity. Denmark has said it is willing to increase its stake in SAS to around 30% from around 22%, if others investors were to take a majority stake. Reuters reported in May that U.S. asset manager Apollo Global Management Inc (APO.N) planned to apply for approval from Swedish and Danish regulators to take a majority stake in SAS as part its rescue plan. Earlier this month, SAS, which has been under bankruptcy protection since July 2022, posted its first quarterly pretax profit since late 2019.
