Pulque is the oldest ancestor of two of Mexico's most popular alcoholic drinks, tequila and mezcal. It's not nearly as popular as the other two, but that wasn't always the case. In the late 1800s, pulque was Mexico's most-consumed alcoholic drink. But untrue rumors that it was fermented with feces, its reputation as a drink for the poor, and competition from the beer industry nearly made pulque completely disappear. So can pulque become a global hit like tequila and mezcal?

Russia is unlikely to offer military intervention against Israel on behalf of the Iranians, Saab said, given it is already "too bogged down in Ukraine." In return for Iran's support, Russia has bolstered Iran's military capabilities in several areas, they noted: "Iran has made notable progress in acquiring advanced conventional weaponry from Russia, allowing it to achieve some of its defense officials' long-standing goals. Iranian protesters shout anti-Israeli slogans while burning an Israeli flag in a celebration for Iran's missile attack against Israel, in Tehran, Iran, on October 1, 2024. That shared antipathy toward the U.S. and desire to create a "new world order" are what largely binds Iran and Russia. Russia cannot — and will not — save Iran in its confrontation with Israel and the United States," he noted.

CNN —Editor’s Note: This essay is adapted from Chris Wallace’s book, “Countdown 1960.”The 1960 presidential election changed everything. Countdown 1960 is the riveting new history by Chris Wallace, bestselling author of Countdown 1945 and Countdown bin Laden, offering a fresh take on 1960 and the dramatic 11 months leading up to a deeply relevant election for the ages. To put it simply: There is good reason to believe the presidential election of 1960 was stolen. And yet, in 1960, the candidate who “lost” refused to contest the results and interfere with the peaceful transfer of power. Kennedy won Illinois and its 27 electoral votes by just 8,858 votes out of more than 4.7 million cast.

The paper published a photograph of Malian separatist forces holding up a Ukrainian flag, an apparent expression of solidarity with the country. The battle killed Wagner Group commander Sergei Shevchenko, Razguzra Vagnera said. The separatist group that claimed responsibility for the attack is the Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security and Development, or CSP-PSD, the BBC reported. A Tuareg militant group spokesman said some Malian troops and Russian fighters had also been captured during the battle. According to some unofficial Russian Telegram channels, as many as 80 Russians were killed. The commander – call-sign Rusich – said on Telegram he was trying to convey a message to the Russian Defense Ministry. And in Syria five years ago, a disastrous attack by Russian mercenaries on an oil refinery led to dozens of casualties. One of them was an IED attack on a Russian vehicle in the same region of Mali as the latest devastating assault.

The White House eventually tasks Kelly with filming a fake moon landing in case the real one fails. Apollo 11 spaceship launch director Cole Davis (Tatum) opposes Kelly's plan, believing it will discredit NASA's efforts. As the seat of power, Zhongnanhai is often thought of as China’s equivalent to the White House, or the Kremlin. In his new book, "Nothing Personal: The Back Office of War," photographer Nikita Teryoshin lifts the veil on the global arms trade, capturing defense exhibitions worldwide. Closed to the public, his series offers a rare inside look into the lucrative global arms industry. Guests, politicians, and traders watch a live demonstration of warfare at the International Defense Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. After the construction and the oil and gas sectors, the global arms trade is one of the most corruption-prone sectors in the world, according to Transparency International. By contrast, the international trade of bananas is more tightly regulated than the arms trade, according to the introductory note of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
