District Attorney Fani Willis brought charges against Trump and 18 other defendants under the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
The charges include forgery in the first degree, false statements and writing, and violating the RICO Act.
If found guilty under the RICO Act, Trump could face a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 20 years and a fine.
She has also used the statute against local gangs and in an ongoing 56-count RICO case against rapper Young Thug and others.
The RICO charge would also carry up to a 20-year prison sentence on its own, making it one of the more severe charges.
